Religious Affections in Modern, Simplified English Paperback – September 2, 2022

I have not read the original Jonathan Edwards, however, this book has been a wonderful teacher. I have been a believer for a little over 1 year and it is of utmost importance to be discerning when reading or listening to others preach the Word of God; this proves to be of sound doctrine! Mr. Tipton has done a wonderful job in helping us more easily understand Edwards in this modern age, without sacrificing sobering truth. This book, more so than others had me pausing to meditate on the meaning of what is said. Brilliant work! I Highly recommend it to anyone who yearns for a deeper knowledge of the meaning of religious affection, and to "test" their own.!

I'm about halfway through the book and am really enjoying it. Jonathan Edward's original treatise is inaccessible for the modern reader; Tipton does an incredible job modernizing the language. The content is edifying, thought-provoking, and stirs my own affections towards the Lord.

Certainly, the topic of true salvation and possessing a legitimate claim of knowing God is of great importance, and this book flushes out the important aspects of that. Also, Jonathan Edwards' writing stye is verbose and on top of that written in a style that takes me a lot longer to comprehend. This simplified version helped me understand Jonathan Edwards' original message.
