Cincinnatis Incomplete Subway: The Complete History (Transportation)

As a transplant to Cincinnati, I have always heard how "Cincinnati almost had a subway!" Picked up this book to get more of the story and some great photos. Fascinating story and a sad ending! Recommend to others with a love of Cincinnati history!

As Cincinnati's politics changed, so did the plans for this transit system. The evolution of the plans, construction and redeveloped plans for the transit loop and later the remaining tunnels is indicative of the planning process of large transit projects in the 20th century, a subject worthy of study.If you are from Cincinnati, you probably have heard that the subway was built too small, poorly planned or just that the city ran out of money. But the real reasons are things like wartime material prices, political upheavals and changes in the laws that made bond issuance impossible. Very informative and highly recommended.

Excellent history of an disaster who destroyed any form of worthy public transport in this town. Well documented, and with a note of slight hope for the future
