Origami stars
I didn't use this product as a refill (I don't know anything about the original product), just used them to fold little origami stars with my son as I did as a child. For this they worked fairly well, though the paper is a little too thick, thicker than other brands I had used.

Nice refill paper for Lucky Star Maker or just nice paper to make stars by hand
If you don't want to buy these refills, I suggest going to a craft store and buying 16x16 inch paper. Use a paper cutter and cut 1/2 inch width strips...works just as well.What to do with all these stars? Decorate a can with fancy duck tape and collect your stars. The lucky star rule I heard is, if you make 100 stars you can make a wish. I suppose that makes it fun to have a goal and make more. My daughter and I just enjoy making them for fun. We give them out to our friends to make wishes. How special is that? Everyone should have an excuse to make a wish....life is too short!As a girl scout leader, I was also thinking about the girls stringing them to make bracelets or a star garland. Be creative with your stars!!!!Really, if you have fun with origami and stuff like this...or just like making stars, this is a great maker for puffing and shaping your stars (you still have to fold them, which I actually find fun). The refill paper gives you the option of plain colors or foiled star design strip in 6 different colors.

These work just fine with the lucky star maker
Not much to say except that these papers are just like the ones that come with the lucky star maker. I paid $6 for 60 papers. Ten cents a piece seems pricey. But in terms of entertainment per dollar I suppose its in line with other craft supplies.

Star Maker
This item makes it much easier to work with when making stars. The paper strips is wider and thicker. The stars come out looking wonderful.

Except we probably needed to get a few packages to fill up a 32 oz. jar. quality is good too.

Great gift idea!
Works like a charm! May need to youtube to get folding instructions as the package doesn't have a very detailed set.
