I bought one of these in black; the seller was out of stock, so offered me two brown ones for the same price. I accepted, and my seven year old so coveted the little pad on sight that I gave one to him. I would buy this item again, and also recommend that anyone seeking a small notepad also consider:1. Buying small marble notepads (two for a buck as of this writing at a local big box store) in conjunction with a separately carried small pen, perhaps attached to a keychain2. PicoPad (tiny and cute, but not nearly as functional as the bigger pads)3. GTD Notetaker trifold wallet4. Retro Elite 51 Traveler (probably my favorite of all, though made of more flexible leather)5. Royce Journalist-Style Leather Flip Notepad (never owned it, but looks nice and gets decent reviews)6. The site "notepadrefills" for variously sized generic pad refills at decent pricesWithout further ado, here are the pluses of this item as I see them:+ Innovative design of the clasp / latch depends on the presence of the pen, which makes it fairly secure+ Light construction and thin notepads mean that the entire assembly is small and light+ Good balance between notepad writing surface size and entire assembly size and bulk; there is very little wasted space here+ Metal notepad cover prevents bending+ Spring makes the cover pop open as the pen is removed+ It is easy even for me, a 6'1" person with bass-player hands, to take notes on this pad without support+ Faux-croc patterning on the cover makes it feel nicer, though of course it fools no one+ The twisty pen is quite nicely constructed for the price, and writes well and comfortably+ Easily available refills for pen and pad, plus cheap price makes it easy to keep a spare+ Available in a range of colors, and looks nice enoughNow, the negatives:- Cheap construction; on one, the metal spring extends slightly past the corner of the pad case- I would like to see pads with a few more pages in them- The pen doesn't lock into place; the clip is oh-so-close to sliding past one half of the clasp/latch to do so. This means the pen could theoretically slide out, and a better design would have fixed this- The pen, when slid down into the closed pad until the pen's clip won't let it slide further, extends past the pad- Can't use any other pen of choice with the pad (or at least would still be stuck with the supplied one, married as it is to the latch)- I personally still prefer more comfortable leather covers, since in the end it's not so harmful if a pad bends slightly as long as it's protected

I wear work shirts that have 2 front pockets. This Flip Note fits perfectly inside the pockets! I carry this Flip Note with me everyday now and it's been so nice to have!There's been several times I've needed to trade phone numbers, or write down some quick notes where paper wasn't immediately available. It just feels great to pull this out and to know I have a paper and pen with me everywhere.I had a cheap knock off version of this Wellspring Flip Note years ago that I also loved...but the metal was very thin and flimsy and quickly got bent up and dented.This Wellspring however is made of very sturdy heavy duty metal. I've had no dents or bends in the metal yet and I've been carrying it for over a year now.It looks great, it feels great, and it works great!I've since bought several others to give as gifts. I love how these are available in such a wonderful array of colors and designs!I love my Wellspring Flip Note!=======UPDATE 01/26/2015=======I've now owned this Flip Note for over 2 years...and I carry it with me still just about everyday.I've found all sorts of uses for this little thing! Grocery lists, reminders, a place to write down quotes that I'd like to remember...heck I even got to whip it out in a criminal justice class final project I was a part of in college...where we had to investigate a crime scene. I needed to write down some measurements but didn't have a notebook on me. I whipped this out of my shirt pocket and really felt all 'official' and stuff! lol :PIt's still in fantastic shape too! None of the paint has chipped off, there's no scratches, and I've yet to get any dents in this thing. The metal truly is very sturdy!I'm so thrilled with the purchase of this flip note!!

These note cases are an unexpected pleasure.Well made, with a generous amount of paper and a surprisingly good if small pen.I use a Fisher Space Pen for my daily doings and would like to eliminate the little pen that comes with the Flip Note, but so far I have not really needed to do that. The Space Pen still gets used and the Flip Note is starting to work it's way into my routine. I'm getting use to having the Flip Note in my pocket and have already stopped tearing the corners off of things to make my off-hand notes. My wallet is already thinner for not having all those scraps inside it!I ordered two of the Flip Note cases and an extra package of tablets. I also ordered a black pen to go with the black Flip Note I ordered. The black pen is only painted black, not chromed black and the paint is beginning to scrape off as it comes and goes from the Flip Note. That is the -only- bad thing I can say about the whole collection!If the Flip Note people are reading this, may I suggest a version of the Flip Note that accommodates the Fisher Space Pen? Also, some waterproof paper would really go great in expanding the range of uses for this product.Thanks for your time and you won't be unhappy with your Flip Note... once you choose which of the many you want :)

I’m in the field when I need to make a quick note. Pen paper and a hard surface to write on is ideal

Even with all the high tech data storage available a notepad sometimes works best and with the variety this company provides there is one to make everyone happy. Minus one star for not providing a black pen.

The case is stronger than I thought it would be. I keep it in my back pocket; it resists bending, and protects the pen, which writes smoothly. Accepts standard 2 7/16 x 4 1/4 pad refills. Awesome little go anywhere notepad. Will buy more.

Have not started using it, but occupies pride of place in my pocket. Just curious if I can get replacement for the memo pad, if I have used up the pages.

I received one for a gift and liked it so much I bought one for my husband so he could write his own notes and stop asking me for mine.

Not having a range of electronic memory aids this small and handy note pad, with pen, is an ideal 'in the pocket' gadget. No batteries required, no instructions to read, just use it! Very impressed with the quality and moderate costs. Have purchased one or two for friends.
