I just saved around £100 with these £7.99 cables!!
Great value proper OEM product in proper Shimano packaging. Great value for money. Comes with 1 full length OEM outer and 2 full length OEM inners, plus 6 spare end caps and also 2 cable-ends for crimping on. Totally recommend the seller The Woolly Hat Shop also - I ordered them on standard delivery Thursday afternoon, and got them pronto tonto in the post on Saturday morning. Took me 2 mins to fit them, (thanks to the excellent "how to" videos on You Tube from Global Cycling Network). Tip - make sure you have some proper cable snippers - I tried using pliers, and they just fray the end of the cables, and won't cut. I ended up using tin-snips, which worked a treat - if you use pliers, you will be cross, because your lovely new cables will be in a frayed mess before you can blink. Tip #2 - if your cables run inside the bike frame, you run the risk of "losing" the cable within the frame. My job actually took A LOT more than 2 mins - because I spent about 20 mins trying to fish the cable out of the frame and route it properly. To avoid this make sure to get some thin tubing and thread over the old cable to get to the opening at the top, pushing it up inside the bike frame and then out the top - and then tape it in place so you can then push the new cable through that and it automatically follows the same route as the old cable. Tip #3 - check the exact spec of your shifters so you make sure you know where to thread and unthread the cables at the handlebar end. I looked at the website I bought the bike from, (Evans Cycles), and like most stores it shows the exact spec of the shifters fitted - Mine are the new Shimano hydraulic brakes with cable shifters, (very nice BTW), but the cables run through the front of the shifters to avoid the hydraulic reservoir - took me a while to find them - I did so by typing the product spec, (RS505 in my case), in to the Shimano website - and the full fitting guide is on there, showing you where to run the cables. A really nice touch !!! I just saved around £100 with these £7.99 cables - so I treated myself to one of those Amazon Alexis Echos !!

Quality
You get a lot of parts. Enough cable for front and rear brake (and then some), same with the outer cable. Plenty of ferrules and wire caps. The best part is that the inner cables have soldered on ends at each end so you cut off the one that doesn't fit your bike. Simple!

Spiral wound SIS gear outers NOT compressionless parallel SP41
I bought this product to replace the rusted and frayed outer and inner cables on an MTB. Although the product Y60098501 is not incorrectly labelled it is worth noting that it is not a direct replacement for the outer cables - whether road or MTB - that I have on any of my bikes. Y60098501 - certainly the cable set I received - is made using spiral bound metal, such as that typically found within brake cable outers. To be clear, this is a gear cable outer - 'SIS' is printed on the outer cable - but not the sort I have seen or used before. For a parallel strand outer cable you should look elsewhere - eg Y60098022 - and check for the wording 'SP41'. Does any of this matter? Well, the old, rusty cable outer shown in my photograph is designed not to compress, whereas spiral bound outer cables typically used for brakes are designed to be 'bendier'. That's not a feature you want with indexed gearing, really. For the 8-speed MTB I've used this cable on it probably won't matter - but I would certainly not use it on my 10-speed road bikes, or anything higher spec. However, parallel strand cables properly require 'wire rope cutters' (see the relevant photo) so as not to chew up the cut end. With spiral bound cables such as Y60098501 you can use 'side cutters', AKA diagonal cutters, such as those shown on the right and used for brake cable outers. (If you fit these outer cables I recommend using a pick or similar to open up the plastic inner sleeve and snipping or filing down the burred metal ends afterwards.)
