Does Dye Nylon
I tried Dylon Washing Machine Dye a couple times on various temperatures with no luck dying a nike nylon running top. I wanted to change it from dark blue to black. I had almost giving up before trying this - I left it in a pot of simmering (70-80'c) water for about an hour with this stuff in and the nylon didn't melt or anything and when I washed it out in the machine and dried it (don't tumble dry nylon, air dry) it actually worked. It wasn't a deep black, but more a slate black because of nylon shimmer. But, it worked and therefore will work on pretty much any lesser fabric - wool, cotton, maybe even synthetics like running tights, waterproof jacket etc. Though beware boiling synthetic clothes might reduce any waterproofing they have in them. Good luck.

Great but for polyester you need to keep the water boiling
If you want to dye polyester you should know that it won't work unless you keep the water boiling for the whole duration of the dying process. I've preciously been able to dye other synthetic fibres in water that stays very hot but not boiling, but for polyester you need it extra-hot.

Waste of time and money
Wildy different results depending on the type of synthetic material. I saw this dye had mixed reviews but was hopeful that by following the instructions exactly that I might be one of the lucky ones.I was trying to dye a top that was 100% synthetic using the graphite grey synthetic dye, so in theory this should have worked but as it has different material on the front compared to the rest of the garment it has ended up a strange two-tone.I wouldn’t have minded if this was a two tone of the same colour ie I was expecting the front to perhaps be a different shade of grey due to being a different material to the rest of it, but it’s ended up green. The camera shows it as grey-ish but to the eye it’s definitely very very green! The rest is a solid deep graphite grey, as intended. I followed the instructions exactly to the letter and did this on the hob in a pan.I’ve now washed the item on its own 4 times and the colour catcher is still coming out deep purple (the dye was supposedly graphite grey) - second photo is of the colour catcher from wash 3 &4 - I give up!I then ran the machine on a 2 hour 90 degree cleaning program and the colour catcher still came out deep purple so I’d be very wary of putting the actual dye in the machine as some people in previous reviews have done.

Easy to use
I was rather sceptical wether to buy this or not for my 97% polyester dress after reading the reviews. On the advice from other reviews I purchased 2 bottles and used them both and watched the YouTube video on instructions. I was really pleased with the outcome and colour.

Given my old underwear the kiss of life after lockdown 😂
If you ignore the slightly dirty sounding review title , I genuienly want to express how over the moon I am with this dye.I accidently put my light washing in with a red dog blanket turning it all a horrible blotchy pink and to no avail I had to bite the bullet and buy some pink dye to rescue what clothes I had ruined. After lockdown a lot of my whites and light colours were looking dull , nothing wrong with the actual fabric but the colours were gone so I decided to shove most of my underwear drawer in there too.The dye itself I prefer over Dylon as it seems to have a lot better coverage and pigment . It was easy enough to use , I wet the clothes and shoved them in a bin full of steaming water and stirred every now and then .Love the stuff , if your underwear needs the kiss of life , try it! .... maybe just not in such a garish pink !
