The H. P. Lovecraft Collection

This is a very attractive set & for the price, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The box is very thick card with a fabric top & a nice logo on the sides. The only disappointment is that the barcode is printed on the back of the box itself - such a pity it wasn't on a removable sticker or even a piece of paper within the clingfilm. Nevertheless, the back will usually not be visible when this set is displayed on a bookcase. The books themselves are small - a good size to take with you while travelling. They are nicely bound with good quality paper & nice fabric covers which are a joy to touch & smell (and who doesn't like smelling new books?!). The title & the pattern on each front cover is also indented, making it even more tactile. When I first came across Lovecraft's work, it was in the form of old paperbacks printed in (I think) the '50's or '60's which had titles such as 'The Dunwich Horror And Other Stories', just like this volume. But these are not collected in the same way. Here, the stories are collected by theme, so the more famous stories are kept together, as are the Randolph Carter stories & tales set in the dreamlands - which is a very good system. Another minor disappointment is that the introduction (which consists primarily of general background about Lovecraft) is the same in every book, except for one paragraph which relates to the book in question. As this is a set, it would have been nice to have a different intro for each one, which would have given the publishers a chance to provide more information. But it's the stories themselves which hare the stars of the show. This is not a complete collection & nor does it claim to be. But all of Lovecraft's best & most influential works are here. Comparing the contents of this one to a complete collected volume which I also own, I do not feel that I have been short-changed in buying this set. Indeed, I am more likely to read this edition because having Lovecraft's work split into several smaller volumes instead of one breeze-block of a thing is much easier on my wrists, plus the fabric covers are a joy to hold. Recommended. UPDATE - This box-set edition has a contents page in each volume (as per the photograph I have added) & page numbers. I presume that the reviews which say otherwise are referring to the Kindle version (which I have not seen, so don't know whether it has a contents page or not) of a different edition.

Really cool little collection. The books are on the small side and text is small but they are well made books. Looks fantastic. Im new to lovecraft but enjoying it so far. The language is older and had to google soome words. This guy REALLY likes the grave robbing thing.

I love them 😍 the books themselves are excellent quality on good white paper. I think the font is slightly smaller than your average book, but I’ve had no trouble reading it and I wear glasses. It looks great on display and they’ve caught the interest of my teenage kiddos, who also want to read them! I look forward to reading them all. Highly recommended.

This boxed set is of a really good quality: the paper is thick and the covers are nice to the touch and well designed. I can completely recommend it to any person that likes Lovecraft and wants to have the complete set of stories. There is a similar boxed set about H. G. Wells that is of the same quality and I recommend as well. Lovecraft wrote horror stories avoiding the common clichés of the genre by adding science-fiction influences to the plot. Some of these tales are, for example, about witchcraft or esoteric threats; but the story includes other worlds or alien creatures. The threat or antagonist comes often from a wider inhuman cosmos that is hostile or indiferent to humanity. Lovecraft created his own personal mythology and has later influenced other author's fiction. One of the books had a printing defect and after contacting the editorial (Arcturus Publishing) they sent me a replacement in a couple of days, and they were really nice about it. It's a small independent company and they are doing these beautiful editions, so I thought that it would be good to leave them a positive review.

Amazing collection of tales the books superb quality and the text is easy to read and a good size

Those books are of amazing quality, with no weird glue smell, and no weird paper, and everything seems to be too good for that price. I pay £50 for one book made in Italy with a fabric cover and here we have 6 amazing books that are set in one box as a collection! The paper is not premium but it is good quality and one thing that was pointed out to me when I showed those books to my mother is that the letters are quite small, I didn't notice it really and I'm already half way through the first book.

The books arrived sooner than I expected and they look wonderful! I just want to emphasize the fact that each book DOES have a table of contents AND the fact that the pages are numbered. ( I saw a lot of reviews stating the contrary- not true! ) Looking forward to reading them!

Like - The books themselves are nicely bound, with most of them containg 3-4 stories to my surprise. Way more than I thought given the price. Disslike - Editing, or lack thereof. Words can be cut at the end of the page, paragraphs will end on the middle of a page and the next one will be marked with a roman numeral and begin on the same page. I found maybe 1 type-o per 200 pages, but given the country of printing being China, all of these are completely understandable. Overall : Would definitely recommend to any Lovecraft, they are well worth the price, and make for a neat mini collection. Will most likely order more from the same seller, once I go through this set.

My package reached to my hand without any damage. Also covers of the books are looking so fascinating.

I genuinely cannot believe this was only $21. Its fantastic, great condition. I dont know how to describe a regular book. The words are easy to read?
