Highly Recommend > Stop Harmful Grain Free Food
At a recent veterinarian appointment for my 8 year old Mini Australian Shepherds the doctor made me aware that the grain free diet I was currently using had been linked to heart disease & heart failure. I was shocked. My dog is my entire world & I thought the expensive food I had been choosing was the best for her. The veterinarian, despite being busy in the midst of the pandemic, sat on a video consult with me after they brought my dog back to the car. She elaborated by walking me through the extensive various studies, the heart condition itself which is called canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). She explained that grain-free pet foods rely on lentils, peas, and potatoes to replace grain. They lack a key ingredient dogs require, taurine which is an amino acid used in the production of protein. The lack of this taurine is what the studies have shown increases the risk of your dog developing DCM, even in breeds not prone to heart disease. She recommended I made the transition to Purina Pro Plan Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice Formula since it has Salmon as the first ingredient, in addition to omega fatty acids which aide in for joint health and mobility - especially important now that my dog is 8 & considered a senior. It also does NOT include corn, wheat or soy, and without poultry by-product meal.I made the transition in April & my dog has her energy back. She’s truly got a pep in her step back. I haven’t changed anything besides her food & credit this switch. When it comes to dog food you don’t always get what you pay for & I learned that the scary way. I hope that the years I fed her grain free doesn’t negatively impact her in the future & I’m just blessed that the vet took the extra time to discuss all of her daily rituals to find this mistake so I could fix it.I highly recommend this product, especially to anyone who’s currently feeding their pup a grain free diet!

Miracle dog food for a two year battle with serious skin. Thank You Purina Pro Plan Focus!!!
I don't normally write a lot of reviews, but for this product, I felt I needed to make an exception. When I explain why I am so happy with this product, I think anyone who loves their dog will understand. I currently have three dogs in my home. Two of them belong to my husband and me and the third is a 14-15 year old foster named Frankie. We have had Frankie for over two years now. At this point we are convinced he is with us to stay. Frankie's story is sad. He had been found on the side of a busy road bloody and broken. I went to where he was being cared for, to foster another dog, and when I saw Frankie, I had to take him too. The other dog was adopted a week later and Frankie has been here since. Frankie is a Pekingese. I am convinced that someone must have poured something over his back. He is completely bald on his back and neck. Unfortunately he has the worst skin I have ever seen on a dog. For the past two years we have been to two different vet offices. We've tried numerous treatments (holistic as well as prescription). We've tried different oils, creams, and shampoos. This poor little guy was getting three baths a week because of the blood and scales that constantly formed on his body. I was almost ready to just give up and accept that there was nothing that could be done for this poor dog. All I could do is try to keep him as comfortable as possible. Now, for the happy ending... I just happened to find this Pro Plan Focus on Amazon. I wasn't sure if it would work, but, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Frankie has been on this new food for about a month now and the results are absolutely amazing. We are down to giving Frankie only one bath a week now and his skin is looking absolutely fantastic! I know he will never grow hair on his back or neck (I make him wear a shirt at all times just to keep his skin protected), but, I am amazed that the scales have not formed anymore and there is no more bleeding. He has even started to act like a dog for the first time since we have had him in our home. He actually runs and plays. For the entire time he has been in our home his activity level has been blinking. Thank You Purina Pro Plan Focus for this amazing miracle food. Our other dogs have always eaten Purina Pro Plan. I wish the Focus was in our stores. I will just have to keep getting it through Amazon.

This food has improved his health!
Someone threw Chewy out by our farm in 2021. He was covered in ticks and even had them on his tongue. He had a bad limp and mats all over his coat. Much care a few vet visits and he was on his way to full recovery. I feed him Pedegree dry food like I had always feed my dogs and for a while I didn’t notice a problem Within the past 2 months Chewy had repeatedly ate grass and vomited a few times. He was also scratching himself more than normal. I did some research and then bought this food. It has made more of a difference in him than I was looking for. He has stopped eating grass and no upset stomach or scratching but the most noticeable difference is the gloss and shine of his fur!! The vet said he is part Chow and part Australian Shepherd so he has the fur coat that is a mix of both. It absolutely shines and is so very soft. His energy level to run and work with us on the farm has also increased. I recommend you give it a try if your dog is having stomach issues.

The Results Are In
Background info...In Summer 2018, I was researching dog food brands for a puppy I'd be getting in July. Previously, I had used Purina for all the dogs I'd had since 1979. In 2014, while taking care of my son's beautiful Lab, I was given BLUE BUFFALO Wilderness. By Thanksgiving 2014, the dog was acting sickly, throwing up, etc. We changed to another bag that my son had left with us, and still, the same reaction. We took the dog to the vet, and nothing was found to be the source of the lethargy, etc. Long story short, I documented everything that happened from Nov-Jan 2015. The dog died in mid January. We even paid for a necropsy. The only abnormality was a touch of a chemical found in mothballs. No, we didn't have any in our home or around plants, etc in the yard. ConsumerAffairs had a boatload of complaints against the company. In 2018, when reading info about various brands of dog food, I was pleased to see that Purina, the brand I had used for nearly 40 yrs, met the standards. I have used Purina Pro FOCUS for puppies, and now, Adult formula. My dog is an Australian Labradoodle. The breed has the long ears, so I have avoided the 'chicken' flavor, as vets have commented that a diet of chicken can cause yeast infections in the dogs' ears. Purina Pro Focus all the way!M. Gasper
