What every budding franchise owner must read
This book is a must for anyone wanting to buy a franchise licence. As an accountant who works with many franchisees, I wish I could have given this book before they bought their franchise. in this book, Coleen O'Brien covers all the ground needed, simply and practically. I am so glad O'Brien has written this book. I will recommend any potential franchise owner to get this book before they make a decision they may regret for many years. This book, the franchise game, is definitely worth the investment. Heed the advice within the pages.

This is really bad..
I usually don't write reviews, but this book is so bad it deserves one.The main problem is, that it is biased. The author is selling franchises. He sais that a franchise is awarded rather than bought.I think both is plain wrong. A franchise leverages the financial capacity and organisational talent of its franchisees to grow its business. It's like another form of raising venture capital and expanding. But you don't do it yourself, you let other people do it. The franchisee carries a large portion of the financial risk of expansion. In the best case this means it is an equal business relationship. This book is written for franchisees! ... But out of the perspective of a franchisor. educating the franchisee how to behave as a puppet, rather than an intelligent individual.

Great Advice For Anyone Considering A Franchise Ownership
A "Brass Tacks," tell-it-like-it-is primer on all the ins and out of buying a franchise. Lots of valuable cautionary advice and stories of people who had successes in franchise ownership as well as folks who rushed into a franchise ownership only to find it was not a match for them. O'Brien urges everyone to really study all aspects of owning a franchise--from whether following a strict system is a match for your personality to whether the operating hours of the business will work for your situation. And she warns that franchises are AWARDED, not PURCHASED, so having the correct approach and attitude throughout the interactions with the franchisor is paramount to success in achieving the goal of ownership. Surprisingly to me, O'Brien says that having a franchise coach does not cost the buyer additional funds. The franchisors see so much value in a coach, they pay the fee. Sounds like a win-win to me!
