Great for varnishing acrylic painting on wood
I've tried this on wood & glass. On acrylic painting on wood it is great, it gives a nice shine after 3 thin coats. It dries really quickly between coats and doesn't smudge the paint underneath (some spray varnishes I've tried do). It's waterproof and the items I've painted have been fine outside in the rain. I've put 2 pictures to show what the varnish looks like on wood but the same bottle has gone a long way and has coated lots of windchimes, wood slices, bird houses, big houses etc. It's lasted much longer than I expected it too as the bottle seems comparatively small compared to a spray varnish. It does dry on glass and protect the painting but if there is any clear glass left showing then you can clearly see the brush marks or ridges in it (I didn't like the finish when using a sponge either). I have recently seen a video of someone varnishing by rubbing varnish on with their hands onto glass, it wasn't this brand but I'm going to try it to see if it works any better, although I'm skeptical it'll be as nice a finish as I want and will probably just keep using it for any wood items I paint.

Good product, does what it says
A good varnish, makes my mini paintings look nice and satiny, not overly glossy. I applied two coats to the image in the photos/video. It advises 3 hours drying time between each coat. The photos of the item look deceiving (like most product photos), always check the size in the description. I made the mistake of assuming it was the same size as the W&N varnish I see in The Range, same shape bottle. It's not, it's smaller than the W&N and therefore a little pricier in respect to the amount. When this is used I'll definitely try the W&N brand. However I've always like Liquitex, their products are good quality. Can't say any different about this one.

great quality varnish
Varnishing is tricky and requires a decent purpose made varnishing brush for best results (in my opinion). Good lighting is ESSENTIAL, ideally a strip light within 6 inches of the canvas/plywood so nothing is missed. Practice makes it easier. I always dilute between 10-15% H2O (bottled, not tap water). 3 to 4 coats of Liquitex High Gloss will give a glass finish once a good technique has been mastered. It gives great protection and protects from UV sunlight. Unfortunately it is not cheap and 1-2 coats doesn't usually give the required finish. I do recommend this product because of its amazing finish.

Good product.
Great quality varnish. Use it as a finish for scale models after painting. Can be a bit pricey but I got it when it was on offer so a good buy.

Best I have used
I've used various forms of resin to gloss my pebble art, this if the best I've ever used, no mixing, easy to apply and gives a great gloss result, it also goes a long way, no harmful smells, washes off easily if you get it on your hands, can't praise it enough.

Exactly as described with a gorgeous high gloss finish to rival resin
Unable to find a varnish that gives the high shine and brings out the depth of colour I wanted I resorted to resin - which can be very expensive - especially if bubbles or dust settles and you need to apply another coat. This was recommended and I am thrilled with the results. I even applied it with a brush and it looks great. I'll still use resin for some pieces - but WOW - this is going to save me a fortune.

Hardly ANY 'Gloss' Appearance To Its Finish At All, After 3 Generously Applied Coats!!
I've written this product review in the hope that it helps others who may be looking to purchase this product. As an avid crafter, I was looking for a high gloss varnish to coat some pieces of my craft project to give a high gloss effect. After MUCH browsing here on Amazon, & also after having read SEVERAL product reviews, I decided to go for this one. I think, if a high gloss finish is what you are looking for, you will find that in general, there are several varnishes, gloss sprays etc, all diff brands, all claiming to be 'gloss' or a 'high gloss', which sounds perfect-if that's exactly what you are looking for & the product itself claims to be of that effect, however, SEVERAL of these (when you take the time to read their reviews) are very disappointing in terms of their 'gloss' 'high gloss' finish. So choosing one product out of several, I decided to go for this particular one as it had some pretty good reviews, - of having been tried & tested, so this seemed the most promising out of several gloss varnish/gloss spray products. It arrived speedily, which was great, as I was keen to try it out, for the purpose i had purchased it for. It came well packaged, & it was a sealed product, in that before using you had to remove the lid & peel back the seal. I'd say on 1st impressions, its a fair sized bottle, not that big, but equally not as small as maybe I was expecting, & the labeling on the product appears very professional, & as though it's quite a reputable brand & product. So, obviously I tried this out straight away!! The product itself is very much a thin watery consistency, so it's really easy to apply with a standard brush, & its coverage is also really good when applied. What's more is that it doesnt give off any sort of chemical odour that may be expected of using varnish, or even a spray varnish, like some of these products do, so that was a benefit, & also, I'm not sure how long I left it to dry for, but I know that it didnt take too long to dry, which again is a big benefit, especially as its advised to use 2-3 layers of this, reapplying once the previous coat has fully dried, & on its application, it made very little mess, - another benefit of this. However, i applied the 1st coat on top of fully dried acrylic paint, i applied generously, & left this coat to fully dry. Before then applying the 2and coat, I noticed that the painted items which I had varnished, which were a plain matte white, on some of them, about half of them, the paint had a cracked effect to the whole surface. When I say cracked effect, it wasnt wrinkled, or any visible actually protruding to the cracking effect, it was still a flat, smooth surface, but it just had this all over cracked effect look to it, which at first, I thought that this product was not ideal for applying on top of acrylic paint. But, when I was then looking at these cracked effect pieces, in comparison to the other half of the pieces which hadnt reacted with this same effect at all, due to the particular style of the craft project I'm working on, i figured that it was in actual fact, a subtle effect, which if placed in between the ones which havent got this effect, it would actually give a pretty good effect, which kind of works with the style of the whole piece itself. In a way, it kind of gives that more authentic & purposeful authentic look to it. So this I didnt mind, as I felt that I could use this to its advantage & work with it. However, in terms of the promising 'gloss' finish the product itself actually claims, & the 'high gloss' & 'really shiny' surface, as claimed in some of its reviews, I wasn't very impressed at all. In all, I applied 3 generous coats, allowing each coat to fully dry before applying the next, & the result??? - it pretty much looks as though I had coated them with a standard sealer or varnish, & I wouldnt say that there was any 'gloss' appearance to its surface at all. In fact, as a sealer spray for a lot of my crafting products, I use a Plasticote Industrial Clear Acrylic Spray, which I also always purchase here on Amazon (cost just over £9, & is a good sized can ((highly recommended!! ) , & just 2 even coats of this sealer spray gives a nice shiny looking, glossy finish, which is FAR better that the result of using this varnish, which gave hardly any 'gloss' appearance at all. All in all, obv I was after a high gloss finish, so I'm glad I tried this product, as one of the best ones on here, just so that I now know that it didnt work as I had wanted & expected, & that from now on I know to stick to my usual clear acrylic spray, with 2-3 good even coats, to achieve the desired glossy finish that I want. I wouldnt recommend this varnish product to anyone, & I deffo wont be purchasing again. For me, it was deffo worth trying it out though, for my own future reference.

Liquitex High Gloss Varnish is the best product for sealing my paintings, and my handmade jewelry.

Ik gebruik het op mijn acryl gieten canvassen en na 2 lagen al een prachtige glans. Breng het aan met een zacht katoenen doekje dus geen strepen.

Maybe I just don't know how to use it correctly but I didn't like the finish on my air dry clay

Lo uso per rifinire gli occhi e le labbra alle bambole che dipingo. Effetto superbo, non rovina la tinta sottostante. Consigliato
