are the compartments of the bag removable?

All of the Velcro dividers are removable. With all removed it’s a single big space. Plus the pockets, laptop area etc.

Would you recommend this for runners?

Never used it for running. For days out on long walks it's perfect. It does have very good straps that also go across waist and chest so may be ok running. For camera equipment and general usage it's a superb bag. Worth every penny and then some

Does this bag have a solid back support?

It has a back support but a bit thin compared to most camera bags. It is comfortable but I would not recommend it if you intend to use it for long hiking with heavy gear. Perfect as everyday backpack.

Can this bag be sensibly used as a work laptop / kit bag for when a camera isnt needed? I want a one bag fits all type thing.

To be honest I could give my wife a run for her money when it comes to buying bags. I just couldn’t find one that really did everything and was also comfortable. That was until I discovered this back pack, hands down the best bag I have ever used. It is so versatile in its configuration and smart features I’d never use anything else. Easy fit a 15in MacBook Pro + iPad In the back sleeve. Then the main pocket can be split or used as a whole. Best thing is when divided into three you have a good size top section that expands and then really easy access via the side openers, so there is no more fumbling around in the bottom of your rucksack. Plus swing it off one shoulder and you have a perfect place to work when finding items or changing lenses. Even has an organiser on both sides. To be honest I could take forever listing the great things about this bag. Which is rare, so don’t look back and I’m sure you will love it. Plus there are some great other accessories in the Peak range, so warning it can be addictive. Just simply a great innovative and amazing quality price of kit.
