SeikoMen's Analogue Automatic Watch with Stainless Steel Bracelet – SNXG47

A genuine Seiko which after a week has lived up to its good pedigree.
My thoughts after 5 days' ownership: shipping was efficient and the watch arrived intact. Packaging was appropriate to protect the product in transit; and a functional Seiko presentation box appropriate to this value of timepiece was supplied (mass-produced with faux velvet cushion, not of the standard you would get with a luxury watch). The watch is in new condition, protected with shrink-wrapped cellophane on the bracelet and with plastic sticker on the base back. There appear to be no hair-line cracks anywhere on the case, nor scratches. To confirm, the lug to lug width is 19mm rather than 20mm. The bracelet is of the usual type in this price point for a Seiko 5, of folded steel which has a propensity to trap wrist hair. The case back is of the exhibition type; you can see the engaging of the magic level system (the fame and high regard for this mechanism being my reason for acquiring the watch). So far the accuracy is +2 seconds in 24 hours (which is within chronometer standards), although there are several caveats to observe with regard to accuracy: the case offers little resistance to external magnetic fields (no internal iron mounting); recently the climate in which I have kept the watch has been very stable (variation can affect the regulation though not to the extent in a Quartz watch); and I doubt that each movement is much manually adjusted in the factory (not in different positions and at various temperatures). Therefore you should only expect the Seiko-quoted daily accuracy. This is fair because this is not a certified chronometer, after all. However, the mechanism has a reputation amongst watch enthusiasts for durability (20 years off of decent running without servicing, in some reported instances I have read) and therefore the product represents good value for money. If you are after a luxury grade of watch manufactured in Japan, then investigate Grand Seiko, especially their Spring Drive movement, or Credor (I have no assosiation with any brand). Note that due to the nature of the magic lever mechanism, the movement of this watch does not hack, so this watch will not suit someone who likes regularly to set the exact time from a radio signal or atomic clock (though one can readily read on line about how to take advantage of isochronism by leaving the watch overnight crown up/down or dial up/down to manage the overall rate of the movement).

This watch is a bargain
This watch is a bargain, it has a classic look and is very well made, it also keeps time well, it hasn't lost more than a few seconds in two days, and after half a day’s wearing it's still running 36 hours later, I actually bought another Seiko watch after reading some of the bad reviews on here as I wasn't sure I'd be happy with it, but I'm glad to say I love it, it doesn't have the best bracelet in the world but it's more than acceptable, and I had enough adjustment in the bracelet that I didn't need to remove any links, my wrist is 180mm so if yours is close to that you won't need to remove links, it's a bit fiddly to adjust but I don't mind that at all

Nice watch looks dressy..the stock bracelet is not good , changed it to a black leather strap right away and wore watch on my wedding day looked the part dressy and classy.. for the price for an automatic it is as expected good value for money.

A classic.
In my opinion the best looking Seiko 5 available. I've seen pictures of this watch with a light brown leather strap (purchased separately) and it looks superb. My watch holds time nearly as good as a regular quartz, but has the lovely sweep second hand. As a classically styled watch it is smaller than most contemporary watches, but not small enough on my wrist to look anything other than a mans watch. I own many much more expensive watches than this one, but somehow the Seiko name and the perfection of the design makes me want to wear it as much as any other. It's beautifully finished for a watch that is only 60 quid. You will struggle to find anything this classy for the price. It's a classic design and should be part of any fan of watches collection.

This is a great every day watch for a great price
This is a great every day watch for a great price. Very elegant face, looks great on the wrist. The watch was already running when it was delivered and I just shook it from side to side for a minute (as it says to do) and it hasn't stopped since. It is keeping perfect time and just seems to run with the normal day to day movement of the arm. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a reasonably priced "real" watch, it's just superb.

Yes the bracelet could be better, but for this price there has to be ...
An item that punches above its weight dramatically. If you are looking for an automatic watch with a display back, 21 jewel movement and with a stylish dial then look no further. Yes the bracelet could be better, but for this price there has to be a measure of compromise, the timepiece itself is a thing of beauty and I am sure I will enjoy wearing it for years to come. Absolute bargain from Seiko!2.5 years after writing the above... Still on my wrist permanently, keeping exceptional time and looks fantastic. My go to watch, every time!
