Q: How does the lens fare, as far as chromatic aberration and field of view go?

I do not use the lens for fine viewing, it suits me to use the lens for small detail on fossils. For the money I really do not think you can expect perfection. It does its job well. it is well made compact and arrived well within time. I have ZERO complaints.

Dear Mr Hough,Thank-you for your enquiry regarding the Digiflex loupe.I can tell you that the lens of this item is manufactured from glass and the magnification properties very useful. The temperature of the lens is cool to the touch - unlike plastic. In addition when the lens is tapped against the teeth you can detect from the tone the lens is of glass manufacture. The case of the product is very protective and will prevent breakage ans scratching when travelling.Hope this helps!

The measurements are only on one side

Hmmmm. I think it may depend on the size of the diamond. The magnification of this loupe is very strong. I have been able to see some very minute detail on some very small jewellery pieces.
