Japanese Composition Notebook for Language Study with Genkouyoushi Paper for Notetaking & Writing Practice of Kana & Kanji Characters: Memo Book with ... 1 (Language Learning Composition Book Plus) Paperback – Large Print, 21 Sept. 2016

Purchased this for my partner, who is currently studying Japanese as a book to practice for his language and composition exams. For the price I really wasn't expecting much more than something to scribble notes in, but I've got to say this notebook was so much more than expected and I am beyond pleased with my purchase - as was my partner who absolutely loves it!Firstly, the cover / binding is simply lovely, absolutely stunning; the 'Tokaido Shinagawa Goten'yama no Fuji' design theme is beautiful and very appropriate to the function of the book. The printing quality is much better than expectation and the colours appear so much more rich and luxurious than they appear in the image online. The notebook has a lovely soft matte finish which feels very smooth, combined with the beautiful design theme this serves to make the notebook look and feel much more expensive than it was. Inside, the paper is quite thick and didn't bleed ink through to the other side. Which was great as this notebook is comprised of pages which are conveniently lined on one side for note taking and gridded on the other for Kanji and composition practice etc. Another great point is that is also has a blank subject page at the back of the book, so you can also write from the right to left if you wish, and do as traditional Japanese do - ideal as my partner is going to Japan for a year so this made great practice as this is how he will be expected to compose in his most of classes whilst there.Overall Im incredibly pleased with this purchase, I mean this notebook was so nice it prompted me to come and write a heartfelt review of how much It surpassed my expectations ! Truly very nice quality, and would be the perfect workbook for any gender or age.

Was looking forward to receiving this notebook but was so disappointed when it arrived. The printing quality was very poor and the lines were wonky. Front cover picture although it looks stunning on pictures above it looked nothing like it which is unfortunate.However Amazon as always did not disappointed and as always came to rescue and provided me with full refund as it had to go back.

Better then I thought.I’m currently studying Japanese and working towards my N3 exam. Up to this point I’ve only ever used Graph paper for Kanji practice but wanted to try something better and more suitable. I saw this book at a reasonable price and thought I’d give it a go. I wasn’t disappointed!The first thing that stands out is the amazing design of both the front and back cover based on the Japanese artwork I believe is called, Tokaido Shinagawa Goten'yama no Fuji.The pages themselves are stuck into the spine very well and I’ve yet to see a page come loose. The paper quality is very high with all the lines been well printed and the pen really does feel smooth when writing on it. The left side is lined while the right side is squared for Kanji practice.Only downside for me is that there is no holes on the left side for filing nor can the pages be taken out. However, I knew this when I brought it so I’m not complaining, I just like to file my course work away.If you want a note book for writing Japanese in then this is a great product for you. It looks great, is very practical and at a very reasonable price. I’ve nearly filled this one and I intend to but another.

This composition notebooks is perfect. The binding and cover are high quality, and allow the notebook to lie open flat which is good for writing. There are two types of pages, lined on the left, and Genkouyoushi (columns of squares separated by a thinner blank column) on the right hand side. From the front (with the binding to the left) the first page is a table of contents page with horizontal lines.The last page is blank on both sides. I was surprised to find that on the second to last page there is a hiragana and katakana script chart which shows the stroke order and direction. This is very handy, especially for beginners who are practicing exactly these characters in this notebook. What a nice touch!I also love that the cover looks great on both sides. I labelled the front Genki and am using it to follow the  Genki 1 Second Edition: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese 1 with MP3 CD-ROM  from the front, and from the back I'm writing my notes from the Irasshai radio program on Georgia Public Broadcasting.

I am a beginner learning kana and kanji, this notebook is excellent value for money. I use variety of different kinds of pens and the paper is really good quality and I have had no problems with ghosting (seeing the marks through from the next page). The layout is very functional and the notebook is easy to carry around. It is approximately the size of A4 closed. It has 108 pages, I will definitely order another one once I have filled out this one! It is not blueish as in the second image, it was just the lighting. It is bright white.

This notebook has been on my wish list / “save for later” list for a long time. I’m so glad I finally bought it because it’s stunning in real life. Waxed cover, beautiful smooth pages inside. Gorgeous design. Overall, lovely. Anyone who’s seen it has complimented it.

All the pages are numbered, and there is an extra page to make your own contents table.There's a small writing/sound guide in the back and the overall quality is exceptional.

Good paper and well formatted pages. A must buy for Kanji practise! The Tokaido art looks great on the smooth cover.
