I took a gamble on these pliers given the reviews. Once I had them in my hands I would somewhat disagree with the reviews which label them as flimsy, while they are not very tough they seem to be made of thick enough mild steel - 3mm+. The semi spherical blackened tangs on the business end are possibly hardened and have a knurled finish. I used them to extract the pistons on a pair of Aprilia RSVR Factory M4 radial calipers which were already split into halves. The pistons and seals were in good shape actually so granted this might not be a stress test of this tool. The pistons were fully depressed into the bodies. The tool did not show any signs of reaching any kind of limit after giving them a good yank. They worked and I like them, think the reviews are a little hard on Draper who have a good reputation deservedly. If I had larger calipers with badly pitted pistons which had been through some overheat cycles with melted seals I may think otherwise but realistically you would probably curse at any tool in that situation. Ps. This is manly work, no triceps + manual tool + bad technique = no extract + swearwords + bent tool

Not for really corroded brake pots!
Problem is with the 'very corroded' and stuck pots I was trying to get out it didn't get the stretch or sheerness that I was looking for! The grip was jot strong enough to get them to move at all. However helped move the newly sealed and cleaned pots. FYI - I got the pots out by using a combination of pliers and hydraulic brake pumping with using a combination of brake pads to focus on one pot at a time pump the brake until it came out - clean replace and then go to the next.

they are not for removing seized pistons but they work well if pistons not seized
worked well for me

Works but doesn't work
I used this to remove a calliper piston from my motorcycle and it worked great got the piston out no problem. The piston was not seized so don't know if it would budge it if it was. The reason I have given 3 stars is because I put the new piston in went to rotate it with this tool after it was seated and the grips would not grip they would just slip so I guess they will grip some pistons but not all. The aftermarket was made from stainless don't know what the oem is made of.

Not the greatest.
Great if all you want to do is spin the pistons in the caliper. The serrations that grab the inside of the piston don't grab very well no matter how much force you grab the pistons with. I was unable to remove my pistons but was able to rotate them in the caliper. I'm going to resort to clamps and compressed air again as I used to in the past.

Spot on
Bought these after trying a cheap set, which were useless. These Draper ones are sturdy, the ratchet system works well and they grip the pots very well. Well worth the extra money

prise en main facile, elle sert fort l intérieur du piston et se verrouille correctement, un peu difficile à déverrouiller mais pour une utilisation amateur elle est très bien.
