Does it have a catch to keep the lid closed , or just gravity ? (Our last one had a catch but it was temperamental and got broken). Thanks.

Gravity keeps the roll top lid closed, it's very good quality, you won't be disappointed with it.

Does this have ventilation holes or is it airtight?

The bin has not got any ventilation holes but, because of the front opening it is not strictly airtight. An excellent product as is all brabantia products that we have, have been. John Clarke

How big is the flat area on top please? I want to know if My tea, coffe and sugar . would fit :)

Hi surface on top of the bread bin is 43cm x 15... If u have the matching canister in the Barbara range they fit lovely on top...I have the window canister...I don't put them on top because I have plenty of room in my kitchen but if you need more space they fit nicely on top and do look very nice. Hope this helps.
