Bought this as a stocking filler for my son (2.5 yrs). He enjoyed putting it in the water and waiting for the egg to hatch. It says it takes 12-24 hours but ours seemed to take more like 48 hours. Dinosaur is a rubbery material once hatched but not as bad quality as I thought it might be. It's ended up in our shower since and it has got even bigger in the water. Wondering how large it could grow! Overall good little item for the money and ideal stocking filler type item.

Okay
I didn't think these were particularly fun however the kids like them and are kept entertained enough. Can't complain at the price - we will see if the kids still like them or are bored after a few weeks.

I got this for my just turned 5-year-old son as a stocking filler. He loved it. We put it in a glass of water and it started cracking within a few hours. The next morning we could just make out something between the cracks and during the day a foot emerged. All in all it took almost 3 days to come out of the egg completely and grow. It had my son making regular trips to the kitchen to see how it was hatching and he was very pleased with the final dinosaur. Would recommend for 3-7 year olds. Reasonably priced.

Such excitement
Wow!! This was the big hit of the 4 year old birthday. Forget all the larger more expensive presents, this £2 toy stole the show. Even his big sister couldn't get enough of it and has requested one for her 7th birthday after Christmas. The excitement checking on the progress after school and ten other times throughout the day.... You can't put a price on that excitement!! We put the egg in water on Tuesday morning, it says it takes 12-24 hours to hatch, but on Wednesday morning there was still nothing. A noticed a little crack appearing on Wednesday night, and with a gentle push it did crack open. Both children were beside themselves when they saw it on Thursday morning. The dinosaur did not grow any bigger when left in water, perhaps it reached its full size inside the egg?!? The end result is a solid dinosaur that your child can continue to play with.

Good simple fun
Simple things in life a best. My 3.5 year old had a blast checking out egg every day to how it was growing and hatching, it was so real to her, and probably better fun for me. The egg is small, same as a chicken egg, hatches, grows and needs a little help along the way, a fun novelty for the Xmas stocking.

Doesnt work...
My;has enjoyed seeing it crack and the dinosaur appear, so a happy 3 year old- but what she doesn't realise is that I keep having to pick away at the shell and encourage the darn thing to 'hatch' - its useless! The blob of a dinosaur inside didn't hatch and had to be forcibly coerced into hatching and broken out of its shell, its barely grown and it doesn't have much likeness to any dinosaur in any of our books! A waste of money and I would have given it 1 star was it not for the enjoyment that my daughter has got from it. It will shortly be 'disappearing' into the bin when she goes to bed this evening....!!
