Nice carpet of green
I mixed the seed with some all purpose compost and sowed it with a light layer of earth over it as well: I've found that this not only speeds germination, but far more of the seeds germinate than when it is just sprinkled on the ground as the supplier suggests. With a light covering of earth I get a really good thick layer of new grass. The first box I bought was sowed in the spring when it was cold, and took a good 3-4 weeks to show. That grass is now thick and healthy and indistinguishable from the rest of the lawn. However the latest batch (which came in an unmarked woven plastic bag) was up and very visible within a week of sowing thanks to warmth and lots of rain. I'm very happy with this seed as it seems to be reliable and germination under ideal temp/moisture conditions is very fast. The grass is good quality, with no sign of leggy rye-grass, and uniform in colour and texture. Wish I had the energy to do my whole lawn with this, not just the places left messy by laying new paths. Oh, and last year I bought turf for some larger areas, which looked fantastic all summer, but died completely over the winter. I've reseeded with this seed over the top, and it's looking good.

Lush Grass in Six Weeks, Overseeding Less Impressive
I ordered this hard wearing grass seed for a small patch I wanted to cover with lawn and to overseed the rest of the grass in my garden. I sowed it around early May, and to keep the birds and dog off, I covered it with fleece for a week until it had germinated. I'm pleased with the result. I've been able to mow it twice already by the end of June and edge it. Still trying to keep off the grass for now though. The results from overseeding weren't as good. I have a long grass pathway which is trampled on many times daily. I covered half the length with seed and put fleece over, and made everyone walk on one side, intending to switch sides when the new grass had grown sufficiently. It's come up, but the patches still look bare with only one or two new blades. I did prepare the new area until it was a fine tilth. The existing lawn was scarified, aerated, cut and the new seeds covered with a fine layer of top soil, so I don't know where I went wrong, though I suspect, the soil wasn't prepared, lots of stones and chafers under there, and the seed the previous owner used wasn't good quality. One thing, it comes in a bag which opens along the 'long side', the wrong edge in my opinion, so once you've opened the bag, it's not easy to store it. I had to tip the seed I was keeping aside into a tin, and cut the instructions from the plastic wrapper and put them in. For starting a new lawn from scratch, this is excellent seed, as long as you prepare the ground well first.

Beautiful instaworthy lawn in a few weeks. Very pleased
I've never seeded a lawn before, so I watched loads of YouTube videos and got the prep right. I'd had the seeds sitting in the bag in front of a window since September, so was a little paranoid that they'd be no good in April. The bad reviews on here had me convinced they'd be dead, especially as grass seeds feel pretty dead and weightless anyway. I sowed a few on a wet paper towel in a plastic container to check they were viable, and pretty much all of them sprouted :D I think the company could improve the user experience by recommending a specific fertiliser. As a newbie, this was a bit of a mindfield, and I was worried that my standard tub of Growmore wouldn't cut the mustard, as it isn't a lawn Starter Fertiliser per se. It seems to have done the job though. After about 3 weeks, I had grass. In 6 weeks, I could definitely call it a lawn. It's been my most rewarding lockdown project so far. There are still a few bare spots, but that's down to excessively shady areas and probably a variation in the subsoil water retention. It's easy enough to scratch the ground up a bit and reseed those sections. So in short, buy these seeds. They'll give you a lush, soft, bright green lawn that makes you want to roll around on it, and they're dirt cheap. Seeding will give you immense satisfaction rather than cheating using turf. You'll also reduce your carbon footprint this way. The negative rules may have been due to old stock, but I doubt it, as grass seeds apparently remain viable for a few years. They're probably down to bad prep or under/overwatering. Use netting to keep the birds off too. And don't make the mistake I made - leaving the bird feeder hanging on the tree over bare tilled soil. The stray seeds will germinate and you'll end up with a wheat crop that you have to remove from the lawn by hand. Good luck!

Green lush lawn that sadly comes packed with weeds.
Germination rate was really good and a nice green lawn appeared within around a week which is was very pleased with. However I am left disappointed at the sheer amount of weeds my lawn now has which it never did before. Will probably have to completely redo my lawn now!

Già dopo 1 settimana i primi fili sono spuntati. Peccato perchè le formiche hanno fatto strage di semi...per quest'inverno sono a posto! Invece io ho dovuto ripiantare nelle zone in cui avevano fatto man bassa.
