A Compassionate View on Oneness
Being a vegetarian who has a daily yoga practice, I have read many books on both subjects. This was the first book that made me take a hard look as to why I had not made the commitment to veganism. This compassionate viewpoint utilizes a step-by-step yoga method that reminds us via our daily practice that we are all part of the "oneness" of our planet.I have typically been a little self conscious being around some vegans. Vegans are compassionate at heart and really very kind in purpose, but I would feel guilty about the fact that I have a hard time giving up cheese. This book was written so that I now have a hard time even looking at cheese.I cried at the very real descriptions of the life of a dairy cow, and even though much of was not new news, Sharon Gannon communicates the message in such a heartfelt manner that it hits home. This book contains many gifts and it will affect your life. One simple gift was my now gratitude toward PETA... being a peaceful soul, I always steered clear of taking a stance, but these fearless people have a new place in my heart.

Yoga and Vegetarianism: The Path to Greater Health and Happiness
What a jewel! Don't let the funky little cover illustration fool you. This is not just some little pop-culture dodad of a book. Yoga and Vegetarianism is a thoroughly informative, wonderfully intelligent book. The link between Yoga and vegetarianism is a beautiful thing and this lovely book helps make that connection undeniable. It may start out a little low-keyed but soon deepens with ongoing inspiration. It is only briefly sentimental concerning the treatment of animals (this is afterall an emotional topic) but paints an enduring picture of the actuality of non-vegetatian lifestyles. I admire and find sisterhood with the heart behind Ms Gannon's words. I have purchased another copy of Yoga and Vegetarianism to give to an interested, but still-on-the-fence friend and feel certain it will give her the needed informative little push toward vegetarianism.

Very enlightening
reveals truth through a unique perspective and revelation on common practices made in everyday life . Revealing a connection btwn all living beings despite the disease of disconnection and desensitization looming over today's society. Sharon Gannon certainly explains this in her book, the enslavement of animals and its dire effect on our soul and the planet. But through the eyes of compassion not guilt or egotism. It's Very life changing and eye opening to read this book especially to those who wish to find true freedom through not only postures but decisions made on a daily basis.

Great Informative Read
I cant remember how I found out about this book but i ended up buying it. I am vegan for almost a year now and have been praticing yoga for some time. I know the two go hand and hand but it was nice to read exactly why and how. I loved this book because it was very, very simple to understand and not too deep so that you have no clue in understanding. It was something that I was abe to read, put down and pick back up during a break or somethign and still be able to understand. Highly recommended for anyone either new to yoga and/or vegetarianism.

Three Stars
Very graphic information. As a vegan, it still shocked me and made me put the book down.

a Must-Read for every yoga teacher and student
This is a short and easy-to-read book about the practice of Yoga that completely blew my mind. I've been teaching for years but feel like I never fully understood the Yamas and Niyamas until reading it. And the words ring so very True and wise, and have encouraged me to keep my practice and teaching relevant in today's social, economic, environmental, and spiritual contexts.

Waste of time and full of lies
The fact that this book is required for yoga teacher training is atrocious. The author is not a nutritionist, and as such this book should not be considered a guide to proper eating. The author is also not an expert by any stretch of the imagination on farming and slaughtering of animals. Her claims about animals being kept in cages and fed a cannibalistic diet consisting of the body parts of the same animals is a gross generalization toward the hard-working farms that treat their livestock with the utmost respect, top veterinary treatment, and humane deaths that are observed and graded on a regular basis. While there are numerous scientific and medical studies that have all shown that a whole foods, plant-based diet is the healthiest diet for human beings, non-experts in the field of nutrition should NEVER give dietary advice.

A Life-Changing Read!
Thanks to Sharon, I now understand why I've chosen a yogi and vegetarian lifestyle. For the first time, I understand how it all fits together and how large of an impact those choices have on our world as a whole. When I started out on this path, I thought I was doing it just for me, to heal my body, mind and soul. I had no idea that my efforts would affect the world in such a huge way.

Helpful: beyond the obvious
One of few books that gives helpful insight into the challenges of discussing vegetarianism with non-vegetarians and moreover how to do so with compassion and not come off as preaching. The Yoga asana guide at the end was a nice little surprise too and did an excellent job of explaining how we store karma and emotions in the physical body. This book also explains how all Yogic principles are connected to a vegetarian diet and not only the (obvious) principle of non-violence.I think all Yogis and definitely all Yoga teachers should read this book.

Very valuable
This book prevents very good data and arguments to show how eating animal products can negatively affect your health and psyche and also the environment. If you have any inclination at all to reduce / eliminate consumption of animal products the data and information in this book might just prove to be the tipping point. The changes in dietary habits might make a dramatic difference to your health and well being. Why is there no Kindle edition of this book?

question de bon sens
Sinon, livraison parfaite. Merci.

This book will make you go vegan
Not an easy read because the true information contained is so heavy that made me cried most of the time. However, I went from vegetarian to vegan the minute I finished reading it.
