Renal Diet Cookbook for the Newly Diagnosed: The Complete Guide to Managing Kidney Disease and Avoiding Dialysis Review: Essential for someone new to kidney disease - It gave it 5 stars for the information you receive in this book. Wonderful, useful, easily understood information for someone newly diagnosed with kidney disease. The author states 100 delicious recipes. At this point I’ve only tried 2. The cooked bulgar and strawberries is very good. I had never eaten cooked bulgar but I really like it. But, on the other hand, the Chicken Pho was not good. The first night I could barely get a fourth of my bowl down me. Tried again the next day and ate the rest of that bowl. But sorry to say. Within a few days the rest saw the trash. As I stated, these are the only two I’ve tried so far. I’ll keep trying out new ones. I love that they are quick and easy. The knowledge you get from the book is excellent. Review: Great resource for those with CKD - This book is an excellent resource for newly diagnosed CKD patients. I was already following a paleo diet and avoiding processed foods, but I wasn’t sure if there were certain veggies or proteins I should be limiting based on my CKD. This book includes lists of foods that are high in potassium, phosphorus and sodium which CKD patients need to be mindful of in meal planning. The author includes weekly meal plans with corresponding shopping lists, as well as recipes. There is also a section on reading food labels. A must read for those wanting to adopt a healthier lifestyle and better manage their CKD through diet.

Good but could be better
I thought this cookbook had sone good recipes. They include all the nutritional facts and have meal plan ideas. They also must have improved the index as a previous reviewer mentioned they only listed carrots twice in the back but as I showed in my photo that’s better now. Improvements would be add more photos. I can never understand why recipe books don’t have the majority of their recipes showing the photo of it made. Most people want to see it before making it. Also, there are a lot of carbs in these meals. I’m trying to do a lower carb to manage insulin spikes and realize it can’t be no carb but maybe a section just on lower carb alternatives would be good. Debating whether to return it or keep it.

Renal Diet Cookbook
My wife has kidney failure so she was fight with what to eat that fits her diet. Everything that fit the diet was plain. The first thing she tried was the pork loin. She loved it and it was easy to make. I am glad I bought it for her. It has been one of our favorite cookbooks.
