Baddest Bee Fire Fuses - ready made kindling, multiple purposes, and they really work
The Epiphany Outdoor fire "fuses" work. Yes, of course you can use cotton balls and Vasoline or impregnate a cotton ball with a nice wax mixture (leaving a bit of nice cotton to quickly ignite), or, maybe better, a cotton dental 'packing' strip, but these do work quite nicely. Follow instructions to fray and expose the inside surface. I use one as a 'match', inserting it into a cut off section of small internal diameter brass tubing (an expended 22 long shell casing cut from the base works nicely, too); just use your BIC to ignite the end, use it as a long-burning, hard to extinguish match to ignite your tinder, then use the brass to snuff the flame. (You can also impregnate twisted jute twine segments with wax for this useful item.)Having these two items in your kit with a good ferrocerium rod, a BIC, or tube of storm matches makes for a much more dependable fire starting experience. (Of course, having a Mora, or a Cold Steel folding knife with Triad Lock - blades that are up to splitting off kindling and making tinder is also a "don't leave home without it".)Let me add, too, that the Epiphany Outdoor Gear Pocket Bellows is no 'toy', but a truly effective means to "fan the flames" whether gently at first to catch tinder and kindling, or later to increase the flame as if a blacksmith to ignite and enflame larger or damp kindling. Strongly recommended for anyone who is looked to for starting the campfire or cooking fire... it's light, inexpensive, and it works.

A Bug-Out must have
I've tried several different firestarting materials and combinations, some work done don't.... So when I got my Epiphany fire fuses I just had to check them out, so I cut off a piece about 1-1/2 long fluffed like the directions say .... & With one small spark from my ferro rod (not even a good strong stroking spark just a short weak one) this sh....stuff caught & lit up like a movie clip , that small piece burned HOT & for about a minute and a half.... So if your looking for a fast easy sure-fire fire ... This is the stuff your looking for

Best compact tinder I have used.
First the pictures and description are not great, so I will tell you that I received 3 tubes each containing 8 wicks 4 inches long for a total of 24-4 inch wicks. Following the instructions I cut one in half and flared the end of one half to the size of a quarter. I used the tip of my knife to fluff the fibers at the end. A small spark ignited the wick which I easily used to start a fire. I’ve now made these a part of my emergency fire starting kits. These are the best compact tinder I have seen or used.

They get the job done.
I bought these to test them before a trip I'm taking this summer. This last weekend I was finally able to test them out. Now I may not have used them exactly as the manufacturer intended, but they worked just how I wanted them to. I pushed out about 3/4 inch out of the tube, cut it off, fluffed up 3 of the nubs leaving the rest as is. Put them in a pile scraped magnesium bar onto it. It flared up and caught easily each time. I started 4 fires on one tube and have enough left over for a 5th. IF you're looking for something to catch a spark, they work perfect. Just make sure you have other tinder around for it to catch, but that's fire building 101.

Great for camping.
I keep these in my emergency bag as well as my camper. I never need to worry about carrying tons of newspapers now, i just shave up a little bit of my firewood with my knife and build up a little tinder and these get it all started. These were much smaller than i thought, but still effective.
