REVIEW - OHTO MF-20K3B [Silver] Ballpoint Pen, Multi-Functional
Easily, one of the nicest made - well balanced - smoothly writing 'multi-pens' out there.I have a slew of 'multi-pens' that I write with, and the OHTO Brand [out of Japan], are some of the best ones, I've own AND use. I've been using some type/brand of 'multi-pen' for over 35+ years, and found OHTO afew years back and now have 5 - 6 of this particular styled pen. What impresses me is their 'ink' - Flows nicely and is permanent [even writes on receipts] - And is pretty color-fast. I normally use their finer tips and enjoy how they write.I've never had some 'critical failure' [as others have complained about] AND I am rough on many of my writing instruments - Including these. The worse that happened was somehow, I managed to bend the knurled end of the barrel [the part you unscrew] - Which I re-straightened AND have had no issues [this particular one I carry with me all the time]. No, I have found these pens to be quite robust and nearly bulletproof - AND I have three Grandchildren, whom have thoroughly 'tested' these pens [2 - 8 - AND now 21 yrs old]... No complaints. And if by chance you don't like OHTO's ink, buy another 'D3' mini-cartridge from other manufacturers... They'll use just about any D3 refill available.I have 6 or more 'multi-pens', which cost 2 to 4 times more then this Brand, and the OHTO's are equal or superior to them. Ohto's deployment and release mechanism is pretty straightforward; as is your selection of either 'ink' or 'pencil'. And I like the 'weight' and 'balance' of the pens - My 'oldest' Ohto is pushing 5 yrs and it still performs as if new [minus some dings-scuffed finish] and I have no complaints - using it nearly everyday.I'd say if you were looking for a decent and nicely made 'multi-pen', one might want to look at the "MF-20K" series from OHTO. Don't waste your money and/or time on the 'cheapo' Chinese knock-off 'multi-pens'... They're total junk [been-there-done-that] and that's saying it nicely. But, as I say with nearly all my 'reviews' ... "It's your money". For me, I have no 'issues' with buying and using this series of pen from OHTO.

OHTO MF-20K3B - Good heft, amazing mechanism - quality EDC pen/pencil.
Saw this pen in Japan and regretted not getting it there - luckily Amazon had it for cheaper than I saw it there.Mostly got this to throw in my everyday carry bag. This multipen is about the same size as any other pen - except it has heft and weight and very cool multpen mechanism.Long gone are separate levers to pull, or shifting something - you can switch the writing utensils simply by facing the pen a certain way. There are small markers near the clicker of the pen to show you what to switch to. With the pen resting flat in your hand, face the black dot up - click down, black pen. Face the red dot up - click down, red pen! Face the 0.5mm up, click down, mechanical pen.It seems the pen simply uses some gravity ball inside to know what you want - however, it feels nothing short of magic. To retract - the clip has a black bar you simply press to retract.Overall - the pen has a solid heft with its hexagon design. OHTO makes solid pens (have a few now) with japanese engineering. I haven't used this for long writing sessions however, as an EDC pen it's perfect for me. Doesn't roll off, isn't super thick, and just feels solid. Makes a great gift - everyone that has received one from me is very happy with theirs and also part of their everyday carry.

Best Multipen I've owned.
The engineering of this pen is small in stature but it no less impressive. No switches or performing a certain twist to get the writing utensil desired to come out. Just rotate the pen to where the red dot, black dot, or pencil lead indication is facing up towards you and press down on the pen's button. That color of ink or the pencil lead will come out!I was trying to twist the top of the pen at first, to see if that determined what utensil emerged, but they thought way ahead of such a messy action.Their engineering for this is so simple, but so satisfying. I am going to buy some refills for this.Only complaint is the lead that comes with it breaks easily.
