It is expensive to use! What with all the gas refill bottles (go to youtube for a way to refill these small plastic propane cylinders, I've never tried it but, am tempted) and the "scent mats" it gets pretty EXPENSIVE to use!HOWEVER, that being said, their is no better "portable" mosquito killer around! In my backyard I use the torches and other devices BUT, the wife and I "snowbird" down in the D.R. from Jan. to April and THESE are the ONLY thing that keeps me from getting bitten up period. The product states a 10 foot radius perimeter for full protection but, I think it's more like 5 or 6. NONETHELESS, I have to ship them down there in advance ( you will NOT be allowed to board the plane with liquid propane no matter how much even if you pack them in check-in luggage),....thus costing me even more money, but again unless you want to smell the "stinky coils," which will make you choke as well. The Thermacell is the only viable solution to keep the little insectos bastardos from plunging their proboscis into thy flesh! Especially here in the D.R. where they are rather small and hard to see but they bites you BIGTIME,....OUCH!Ladies and gents,...I spend a small fortune in time, energy, and moola buying and using stuff here on amazon so if this review was HELPFUL,....well, you know what to do! We learned of this product by an individual that spends a lot of time outside in the field tracking birds in their environment where there are tons of insects. She used a Thermacell units that hung on her shorts and re offended them to us at our home. We've been using them for years and they are highly effective and I recommend them to all. I would get a minimum of 3 where you place a couple on the ground near your legs and one on the table you may be near. They are great but don't forget to turn them off otherwise you will go through a lot of the fluid inadvertently.

Neighbor introduced these to me and I have been using them for 2 seasons straight!! For the most part they do work well. I have noticed that some pads don't work as well as others and if I get but by a mosquito I just change out the pad to a new one. This typically works, just a shame that I have to waste one or two here and there for the price of them is not that cheap! However, it is still worth not being torn up on those summer nights sitting outside.I wouldn't say the 15' coverage area is true or not true as I tend to keep the lantern around 3-5' within range of me.I have not noticed any odor coming from them, although sometimes the pad does smoke up when lit.These do tend to work on mosquitos, but definitely do not work on other insects, such as carpenter bees, spiders and such.

Our home is surrounded by trees and, despite mitigation efforts, the area holds moisture and regularly yields a mosquito breeding frenzy throughout the summer months. Our deck was unusable before we got a couple Thermacell lanterns. Now we’re out there all the time. Not a huge fan of getting a whiff of the smell, but that’s a small price to pay for the results. These refill packs last a long time.

You must have the lantern for which this product is made. Once assembled, is effective for deterring mosquitoes. You should keep an eye on the mats to e sure they are not turning light blue to white, and replace it with a new one if so.

The pads seem to run out quite a bit faster than they used to. 🤔

Easy to use. Effective. My son likes to sit outside in the evenings and he swears by these.

I’ve used Thermacell products for years for hunting, fishing, and camping. I always order a bunch so I never run out. They’re great at keeping the bugs to a minimum. Great price and simple to use.
