I purchased a set of these as a university student who enjoys cooking. Never having purchased knives before, I wasn't entirely sure what to look for to tell whether they are good quality or not, however I'd only ever used riveted knives in the past so stuck to what I knew. These actually exceeded my expectations in how well made and sharp they were - the cooks' knife is sharp enough to go through the peel of a tomato without pressure, and also makes chopping root vegetables, nuts and chocolate a doddle. The bread knife is sharp and a decent length - it's good enough to cut crusty bread/biscotti into thin slices. The other knives are made to a similar standard, but I haven't used them as much as the cooks'/bread knife. I noticed one review which said that after a while the knives do not fit the knife block, however this has not happened to me so far - the knife block does provide a safe way to store them. The only issue for me is that the handles on the knives are quite chunky (however I have tiny hands; I assume the handle size is probably about right for most people).

I'd been looking for a set of knives in a wooden block for ages but they all seemed to be around £50 which was over my budget. I was worried this would be cheap due to the smaller price tag but actually I'm really pleased with it. The block is a nice solid piece of wood and the 5 knives are sharp and the handles feel sturdy. Would definitely recommend.
