Very enjoyable!
The Highlander’s Conquest by Eliza Knight is the second in The Stolen Bride series and I enjoyed this one just as much as I did The Highlander’s Reward. Once again I listened to the audiobook narrated by Corrie James who is fast becoming a favorite of mine. She just has such a great voice and perfectly acts out all the different nuances of her characters. While these books are part of a series it’s important to note that they would stand alone quite well.In The Highlander’s Conquest Blane Sutherland has been tasked with bringing Lady Aliah de Mowbray to Scotland to be with her sister Arbella and their father. He disguises himself as an Englishman and presents Aliah with a missive from her father requesting that she go with him. Needing to know that her sister and father are safe and well she agrees. Needless to say that when Blane reveals himself to be a highlander Aliah is incensed and takes action. Now I’m not going to say what action but I will say it was very funny.Aliah is a little spitfire like her sister Arbella and can certainly take care of herself despite having been sheltered her whole life. Just give her a bow and arrow and she’ll enlighten you. However she’s vowed to give her life over to God and the church and yet she can’t deny the ever awakening desires of her body. Could it be love? For Blane who is as roguish as they come he feels a powerful attraction to Aliah but his older brother Magnus would kill him for going near her. Blane has never really cared for a woman but somehow Aliah is working her way into his heart. There is nothing to do but push her away as he is most definitely not good enough for such a sweet soul as Aliah. Will they end up together or not?Who can resist a highlander? Especially the Sutherland men. That’s what I say. Eliza’s books are such a sweet escape for a few hours! They are fun, sweet, sexy, and great to listen to! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two in the series and full intend to enjoy the rest as well! As a note there is a lot of hanky panky going on for my readers who just aren’t into that. If you are though and enjoy a good historical romance check out Eliza Knight’s books and enjoy!

TROUBLED SOULS!!!
We are introduced to Blane Sutherland in bk1 The Highlanders Reward. Blane has been sent to fetch Arbella's younger sister Aliah. Arbella knows her sister is alone at home and in danger at Mowbray Manor becasue of the impending war between Scotland under the head of William Wallace and England under the head of King Edward. Blane pretends to be English, Sir Blane Sutherland to persuade Aliah to travel with him to Scotland to reunite with her sister Arbella. Aliah believes her sister has married an Englishman Sir Marmaduke Stewart who resides in Scotland. Arebella has really married Laird Magus Sutherland. Blanes older brother.Blane and Aliah both have something in common. They believe they are responsible for their parents death. Aliah believes she is responsible for her mothers death in birthing her and has vowed to make penance for it by severing the church as a Nun. Blane is determined to find the English gang that killed both his parents and severely wounded him. He believes the attack was his fault. On their way to Scotland the two fall in love and do some heavy petting, but stop before it goes to far. Blane feels he has nothing to really offer Aliah an is dedicated to finding his parents murderers. and Aliah has vowed to give her life to the Church. For me this back an forth Angst between kissing and heavy petting and pulling away from each other was to much. There Reasoning why they can't be together went on to long. I was ready to say enough already!! Get together! The story is still pretty good and held my interest. Now I am moving on to read bk 3 The Highlanders Lady.

romantic-at-heart
I must say that I enjoyed the first of the series better, but this was a pretty good second. Although I loved the H/h, I thought the H was not as strong as his brother. He kept getting injured easily and didn't seem to know that the enemy was around until they were under attack. Now - don't get me wrong - if you have ever read one of my reviews - you know I LOVE MY HIGHLANDERS. They are all different and that is why they grasp my heart so easily. However, charicteristics that I must have is a strong, brave, passionate, possessive, and heroic highlander. ahhhhh - oops sorry about that....dreaming again. hehehehe Although this H was brave and heroic, he didn't seem as though he could handle protecting the h well enough. That was distracting for me. I need to know what makes the H different from the other warriors in the book. Nothing grabbed me and I was somewhat disappointed. That is why I gave it four stars instead of five.In both the first and second books the author has very strong heroines. They can take care of themselves with weapons and can hunt like any man. You go girls! Although too strong of a heroine is a turn off for me - I like my Heros to be the gallant hero I know him to (hopefully) be, the heroine in this book was pretty good.Would I read this book again - probably not. But the author has more in the series to come. I hate to say it - but I will be reading them too - I must see what happens with the other brothers.

A Highlander and his Stolen Lady
Loved the storyline. A woman hell bent on joining a convent feeling the need to devote her life to God after her mother dies giving birth to her. A highlander who thrives on independence and the thrill of sneaking into England to market his clans prime wool. He is also on a quest to find the outlaws who killed his parents years ago and seeks retribution. He is giving the task of escorting this outgoing lass to her sister in the highlands. Sparks fly and boy what a trip that is. A must read.

Light reading
The story was good but I would categories this book/series into lighter reading where the story is concentrated mainly on the main characters and not so much on other things
