Will this cable work from a desktop computer to a monitor in the microphone inputs?

Not sure just exactly what you're trying to do. But this is an audio cable so if you are trying to get audio from the computer to built-in speakers in the monitor it should work. If you're trying to connect the monitor from the desktop to the monitor to get a video signal this cable will not work the way you're trying to do it.

Will this work with the vga to hdmi adapter? I have an older tv with no hdmi port and I would like to use an amazon firestick.

So if you're using a vga to HDMI adapter you won't need this cable at all, you will plug the fire stick directly into the adapter for both video and audio :)
