I have an early 2000's Hayward Skimmer. The part that's "supposed" to fit, SPX1082K is exactly 1/4" too wide, THIS door fits perfectly.In case you don't know, keeping the debris from floating back into the pool when the pump's off is the SECONDARY function of a Weir Door. The PRIMARY function is it GREATLY increases the pull of debris at the very surface of the water. This is due to Bernoulli's Principle.

We did some research and read other reviews, others said they used a hacksaw to trim down the flap to get it to fit. We thought we would try it as we had nothing to lose and it works perfect. When the pump turns off all of the debris no longer floats back into the pool, exactly what we needed. Easy to install other than having to trim it down.

We’ve had our in-ground pool for five summers. Our installer never gave us detailed instructions on how to care for the pool. Everything we’ve learned has been through trial and error or research. Our biggest problem was water circulation. We couldn’t understand why the surface water didn’t have much movement. One of the answers was we had no weir door on the skimmer. Not sure why our installer didn’t add one because they charged us a fortune. This little door has done wonders to increase the water movement in the pool. It was quick and easy to install. We purchased a hacksaw and popped it into place. It was that simple.

After measuring the opening on my pool skimmer I order this because it was supposed to fit perfect. However when I got it I found out that it was a tiny bit bigger but a hacksaw can cut it to size super easy. Just make sure after you figure out how much to cut that you cut off both sides evenly so it operates as it should. Installation was a breeze and this is a must for skimmer proper operation. My pool was constantly having ants and small debris and it was because the skimmer did not have this flap. Once installed the top of the pool was crystal clean the next morning.

My gunite pool was built in 1986. The Hayward skimmer opening reduced in size either due to shoddy installation or settling over the years. A standard Hayward Weir was too wide and would stick. This weir is just about 1/8th inch smaller and worked perfectly.
