Beautiful book - and gardens
This is a beautifully produced guide to New York City’s parks and gardens. It’s a lovely size book too - whilst looking and feeling like your classic coffee table book, it’s small and guidebook sized, making it much nicer to handle and read. You could easily slip it into your bag as a guide whilst in the great city. The writer is most engaging, and is a talented photographer too. It really is a joy to dip in and out of this book.I’ve never associated NYC with fine gardens so much, being a very built up place with a harsh climate. Central Park is featured here of course, but there are lots of other places I’d never heard of. Whilst you’d expect great things from the Botanical Gardens, there are seemingly idyllic rural places with rolling green acres. Some look like an English estate, others are urban parks, but all are so enticing. Some such as Governor’s island are engineering marvels too.Usefully transport links are provided, many accessible on the Subway or other transit systems. I’d have liked a map showing where they are so you can gauge how far out into the country they are. So I had my phone next to me looking these up on mapping systems. I’ve discovered lots I didn’t know about New York with this book, and can’t wait to get over there to visit some of these gardens.

Wonderful spotlight on nature in NYC
It is a wonderful book. I was both surprised and disappointed not to see beautiful Riverside Park referenced anywhere in the book, which is a big and puzzling omission.

Great travel book
I have been enjoying nature and travel and this book combines them both. A great table top book, easy to thumb through and great for conversation starters! Would recommend to those who love travel, nature and New York!

Lovely book
I grew up in NJ with parents from Brooklyn, so we did regularly go into "the city" as we call it here. But I never learned to appreciate the beautiful parks that NYC has to offer. I honestly had no idea the extent of them. This book features beautiful pictures and information about many beautiful parks across the city. It is a lovely book and makes a nice "coffee table book" that I keep on display. I can't wait to visit one or more of these parks on my next trip to NYC.
