Elementals: The Complete Series

Unexpected
I really liked reading the Elwmental box set. Some of the characters are a little full of themselves, but do learn to work together. The ending really came out of nowhere. Good job bringing it all together!

great read
It could’ve been longer. But a great adventure to immerse oneself in. Michelle Madow always comes through. Until the next adventure!

So much mythology retold and so many gods of legend 😉
I wrote this review in parts. As in, I wrote each review for its respective book as I was reading/finished it and not at the end of all five. Otherwise, I wouldn`t have been able to keep events straight and with their correct book. The Prophecy of Shadows:A bit slow going for me even though we jumped right into the whole witch thing. I am a huge fan of mythology and love it when they come into play; especially Greek/Roman. I love seeing different interpretations and, sometimes, just the basics while the author makes it work to their story. After I discovered the HON series years back, I fell in love with stories involving the elements. I can find peace within all of them at times. I also like her choice to have the characters eyes be similar to the colors we tend to associate with the elements. I like those types of details. Also, a prophecy scavenger hunt is new. Plus, all our elementals seem to be dealing with all this remarkably well... I`d be freaking out while causing too much trouble as I tried to master my powers 😊The Blood of the HydraSo, the story escalated quickly as we are now out to save the world by fighting ancient monsters and gods after only a month of training but sure, okay. That is how it always goes though, unfortunately. However, I love the more loving take on the demi-gods and their god parent. Usually, it`s a big no-no to interact with their offspring, like with Percy Jackson, but here it`s more they want their children to live their life but still look out for them, along with the rest of the world. I also enjoyed the visiting of some of the challenges that Odysseus had to face and that basically, we get to assume everything about Greek mythology we have learned is cold hard fact unless proven otherwise. I love it!! I`m impressed with how fast they managed to get through their 3 tasks in order to make their weapons strong enough to actually cause harm to the Titans and their monster allies. The Head of MedusaNYX!!!! Ever since I discovered HON, Nyx has become one of my top gods period. Plus, I`m always more awake when the sun goes down. I tend to get more done then too. However, this story line is moving at quite a nice pace because in a matter of months, our elementals have had quite the adventures and I`m eagerly awaiting to see what the big, main battles/challenges will be for them in the following books. Why can`t we just politely ask Medusa to help a girl out? Why MUST we always behead her? Also, good on Athena for agreeing to that deal, even though she was a part of it all in the beginning, sort of. Okay, vain fueled Medusa...Also, is this series going to feature a different, sort of major Greek myths, retold/revisited? First Odysseus, now Perseus and Medusa...YAS! THERE`S A TRAITOR! I love it when there`s a traitor. Called it. Very well played Helios, well played.Poor Kate ☹When the hell is Apollo gonna show his ass??The Portal to KerberosWell it`s about damn time Apollo!Everybody wants to be at the top of Mount Olympus, even if it is in a prison world, and just a mountain.👏👏👏 Erebus! I had a sneaky feeling Nyx would do something, like sending one of her boys to help out our people! I`m gonna have to reread HON once I finish this series!!Kerberos sucks. Obviously. It`s supposed to, but I liked the throw in of Hercules` challenges with the lion. I really am looking forward to seeking how many of these demi-god challenges to prove themselves Madow puts into this series.Damn. We just be killing everybody up in here. Plus, ya know, time travel. Go Chronos. I`m very much enjoying the more humanity take on the gods and their bluntness with also seems to hold some sass as well. Usually they tend to just be painted as dicks who really don`t care either way, but having them appear as if they have some semblance of a heart is a fresh take, especially with Zeus. There tends to only be one, maybe two, gods who actually care/intervene and they are also connected to the main MC(s) in some way. Of course, here, everybody is connected to somebody...The Hands of TimeSo, we finally reach the final book and it`s still only been like 3 months since we first began this story. I am so happy that we FINALLY got to meet the other Elementals` godly parents and I loved how they were presented. Athena was a lot like how I had always imaged her to be! Yea Kate!! Our new goddess! I`m so glad she is back, and I figured it wouldn`t work on Rachel. Although I do feel bad for her but at least her soul, hopefully, finds some peace in the Underworld.Anyone else think that even though these challenges are those of legends, our characters have managed quite a feat, quite quickly, with a lot less training than the heroes of those legends? Not perfectly, obviously. Some consequences. Rachel. Kate. Blake. Ethan… eh, sort of.Good dragons. RIP Dragons.Oh Chris, Zeus would be proud. And Hypatia, I had my suspicions.YAS! I was hoping we would get to see Hades and/or the Underworld and we get to see everybody! I`m a big fan of Hades and Persephone. And Cerberus, ya big puppy. 😊I admire the loyalty and determination and am sad that Danielle isn`t there to be quite a sassy influence on the newly discovered demi-gods and witches coming into their powers. But I am happy for her and Erebus. I was wondering about them about our travels in Kerberos. The epilogue was beautiful, and I think Kate`s choice for her domain as a goddess fits not only her perfectly, but also her divine lineage as well.

Great read!
Loved Elementals! I read Elemental Academy first and was a bit sad about the "spoilers" from reading it. But it really didn't matter, because once I got into the story, Michelle's writing pulled me in and I still had all the feels her books pull out of you. Highly recommend reading all her books. Maybe look up reading order first.😉

It's okay if you are 11-13yo
I bought this series because my 13yo niece wanted me to read it with her (as she often does with books) and I don't mind. My older niece did the same thing, but her favorite books were the Mortal Instruments Shadowhunter books. Those I loved! This series was just okay. The first book in this series set the stage for what I thought would be entertaining reading, but I found myself, about midway through the third book, working to just get it done. I know these books are YA so I had no expectation that they'd be difficult to read or very sophisticated, but I found myself at the beginning of each book feeling insulted on behalf of YA readers. For some reason the author used several pages to review the previous book(s), as if the readers weren't able to keep up with the story. I also found myself annoyed each time she would remind the reader who the character was referencing ("...me, Blake, Chris, Kate and Danelle..) after spending (in some cases) a full two pages having the characters dialog. We know who was there! Unfortunately the author did this so often it made the books hard for me to read and even harder for me to take the author seriously. The characters in the books are all stereotypes and very one dimensional, especially the main character, Nicole. Throughout the series we're supposed to believe this character is learning and growing (less impulsive and more mature) yet she continues to do the same stupid things over and over. In the end she has a tantrum like a spoiled child until she gets her own way and did not make me care that she is central to the story.I gave this series three stars because my niece liked it more than I did, and that is really the point given she is the target audience. But even a 13yo made some of the same comments I did about the characters and writing style. This is probably a good read for the 11-13yo reader.

Many enjoyable hours!
It took me a while to read the almost 700 pages, but it was definitely worth the time spent reading the box set. They were very well written and I especially enjoyed the witty dialogue between characters that sounded natural, not stilted.I lost a lot of sleep staying up because I wanted to read “just one more chapter” which was even easier because the chapters were usually pretty short which made it even harder to stop reading.I anticipated some of the ending, but I still cried through the last 30 pages which were sad but well written. I would have liked Danielle and Erebus to have been included in the Epilogue to see how things went for them, as well as more details about how she would live in Kerabos.I had two ideas for her sacrifice not being needed: if they had done it before Chris died from his poisoning from the wolves, he could have closed the barrier. Or I wondered if they could have added another lock to the portal or door at the entrance to the cave that could have been locked and secured without someone being needed on the other side.

Great
Wow, such a great series. I've read nearly every book from Michelle Madow, and one more time, I am really happy that I got to read this five. The Book go into one another without cuts, what I personally enjoy, because of course I didn't madea brake between them, either. Somehow, this Time, I was not so bound to the protagonists, so I didn't had to cry the whole series, what took me by surprise, but okay.Straight: I loved getting lost in Michelle's storys, again.Thank you. :)

Great, fast read
I am in my 30's and I know this is a teen book, but I loved it. It's an easy, quick, fun read. It is fantasy, it incorporates Greek mythology, I really enjoyed the series. I'll be reading the next series set in the same world by this author.

Some pages are loose
My daughter started reading the book and shortly found a page (page 7) was loose from the book. I told her never mind it's only 1 page. She continued to read and found another page loose (page 13).
