No Proper Photographs To Display Any Techniques!
If you are looking for an instructional book with detailed photographs, this is NOT the book to get. This book will explain certain things and show one photograph, how are you supposed to learn from a single photograph? And the whole book is like that! The book was originally published in 1926 so I am sure they were not thinking about the value of having sequences of photographs in order to demonstrate the proper execution of techniques. I know they meant well but is a sad disappointment. Seriously, it pains me to have to say this about this book but I am telling you the truth, save your money and get another book, you can thank me later! The cover is the only good thing I found about this book. Buyer's remorse here for sure!

A must purchase item for Bojutsu and Budo enthusiasts.
Very appreciative of efforts made to translate Japanese Budo works these day, especially works translated by Mr. Shahan. Though this is not a large work, as far as length of the book, there are tons of glimpses of how this system trained and related inner concepts. I could only imagine the work necessary to translate work like this. Though there are tons of different Budo arts, and each have their specialties and nuances, works like this show how connected Budo arts are, and are inspire us all.

old SCHOOL
another great piece translated this shows the early prewar work where they were trying to incorporate certain aspects of ko budo buki into the schools i find it interesting that these weapons were taught in some schools the amount of restraint from student to teacher had to be immense.the use of the tanbo instead of hanbo is interesting side bit...

Bojutsu strikes!
A fascinating book, but I don't quite know what to make of it. The book simply contains instructions on various strikes which are very similar to kendo strikes.. There are no katas. The foreword says that Master Matsumoto taught this in Japanese schools. If this is all he taught it probably didn't take very long, but I know how the Japanese strive for perfection. However, if you knew these strikes and were in a bo battle with someone who did not, you would have a definite advantage. The strikes would work with smaller sticks as well.

Old school
Good book, but short. There is some good info in it. If you are a student of the bō it would be nice to have in your collection, but will not teach you a lot of new stuff.

Cool old manual
Takes a bit of thought to connect the moves, but interesting read and manual.

Two Stars
techniques demonstrated are few and scrappy, and not a lot of info in the book anyway.

Don't waste your time
Poor material. Bad resolution pictures and messy movement description. You rather find a good video instructional in bo kata and kumibo. I bought this one to compare whit other bojutsu styles and I learned nothing.

Libro in inglese pieno di fotografie la cui comprensione non è sempre immediata. Utile per gli amanti del genere che vogliono ampliare il proprio bagaglio
