You can tell
It was definitely fun to watch it explode but you can definitely tell it’s a fake ball due to the lightness of it so you gotta be the one to put the ball down for somebody else to hit it or they can definitely tell

I told my buddy I had a new golf ball that goes 30 yards longer and for him to try it, so I put it on the tee for him and when he tee’s off it exploded. I almost peed myself it was so funny, nothing but a puff of white powder.

This worked well on a few friends and family. It did exactly what I had hoped with some pretty funny outcomes. The only issue I have is that, they look and feel very fake so, without a tricky swap out, someone would notice these are not real pretty quickly. That being said, with some sneaky planning, you should be able to pull it off and get the desired reaction.
