Thrilling and Engaging
"Next in Line" is the fifth book in Jeffrey Archer's William Warwick series and it is every bit as thrilling and engaging as the previous installments. The novel follows William Warwick, a detective in the Metropolitan Police Force, as he investigates a high-profile art theft. As with all of Archer's books, the writing in "Next in Line" is crisp, clear, and engaging. The plot is expertly crafted, with twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end. What I particularly appreciated about this book is the way that Archer weaves in elements of art history, making it a fascinating read for anyone interested in the subject.William Warwick is a compelling protagonist, and it's been a pleasure to watch his character develop over the course of the series. He's a detective who is passionate about justice, but also flawed and relatable. The supporting cast of characters is equally well-drawn, with each one bringing something unique and interesting to the story.Overall, "Next in Line" is a fantastic addition to the William Warwick series, and one that is sure to delight fans of Jeffrey Archer's work. With its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and engaging writing, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good thriller and I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the 6th book.

A roller coaster of a ride!
Exciting sub plots and dramas. One to read on its own or jump in from the beginning and read in succession. My favourite character is the bad boy Miles Faulkner and his dastardly deeds - always being one step ahead of the Met and his ex wife Christina. This is fifth book in the series that I've listened to in the last two weeks and have enjoyed each one more than the last. Kudos to George Blagden - that man is so talented, I really thought I was listening to different actors narrating the parts! The only (tiny) criticism I have of JA's writing is to keep consistency with the characters' back stories. The Hawk had earlier in the series been described as having three daughters, who wrapped him around their fingers, only to then have a son and daughter and Paul Adejo was Nigerian and then became Ghanaian... Otherwise, a thrilling series especially as JA doesn't need to entice his readers with the inevitable parade of sex, swearing or violence. I'm ordering my September copy now! Well done Jeffrey :)

Enid Blyton for adults
I’ve enjoyed reading the William Warwick series and like all of Archer’s books an easy read. Enid Blyton for adults.

I’m puzzled!
I enjoyed this book a lot, and was waiting to hear how Miles Faulkner would exact revenge on his lawyer Booth Watson when he found out what he’d been up to with his money, property and art collection while he was locked away in prison. Perhaps I missed that bit? Started the next book hoping I would find out there, not finished that yet, so still puzzling. Maybe I just dropped off and accidentally skipped a few pages! Anyone know what happened?
