What an incredible device to add to my rig !
I'm not a bass player, mostly guitar, but wanted to add a bass preamp to my rig. What a great choice. My only confusion was that I did not understand that the Effects send/return loop only applies to the Drive output, not the Deep one. I'm sure it makes complete sense, but I had to spend a few hours and RTFM a few times before I got it.Now I get to explore and master this instrument !

Killer Bass Tones!
Well, what can I say? It's co-designed by Geddy himself, to get Geddy's signature tone, and it does that in spades! Thus, any comments I might have on design are probably really beside the point. That said, I would have liked two additional capabilities: 1) to be able to footswitch the Drive and Deep channels in/out separately instead of only being able to change their levels via the front panel dials, and 2) to have an adjustable LPF on the Deep channel so bright tones don't always pass thru when engaged. This is my third Sansamp unit, as I previously owned an RBI and RPM, but this is my favorite by far. Why? Several reason really, but mostly because of the addition of the deep channel and the voicing, in general. The range of tones possible is amazing because each dial has such a wide but usable range. I don't have to move the dial far to achieve a very different tone. Of my three SansAmp units, this one seems to have less noise in the Drive circuits, though that may perhaps be my memory fooling me. It's been 2 years since playing through my last SansAmp. Another aspect of this unit that I didn't know I would like so much is the light green color of the faceplate and the dial knob shapes. It really makes my settings obvious from a distance.Well done Tech 21!

Powerful tone shaping device
This preamp brings your rig to life. At first I plugged it into a power strip and got a terrible hum. Plugged it into the wall and it’s perfect. There are soooo many sonic possibilities. I had to experiment quite a bit with how I routed it through my amp, eventually running 2 separate cables out of each channel into a splitter, directly into the front input jack. Then it was a matter of dialing in my tone. I don’t exactly want a Geddy tone so my settings are drastically different from his setting shown in the owners manual. That being said, after some fine tuning of the mids in a band setting, it was the best tone I’ve ever had. Good booming bottom with mids and highs that were crisp and clear. Just the right amount of crunch from the drive. My band mates said it was the best bass sound ever. I was blown away myself after having it less than 24hrs. Can’t wait to play with it some more.

it's just okay
I was hoping for more of Geddy's older town out of this. The classic Sans Amp guitar pedals sound very much like the amps they are attempting to mimic. This didn't really sound like anything but a Sans Amp to me. It bights, but bights in the Sans Amp way. Not in a classic Geddy, or "the Ox" type tone.

True to Geddy's sound!
As a big Rush fan, I was really excited to see this hit the market. I got it shortly after its release, and started playing with it immediately. Paired with my Geddy Lee signature J Bass, I was able to quickly dial in something pretty faithful to Geddy's sound and play that through to my recording software. All knobs and switches are a nice quality, and have nice smooth control over the settings.

And the meek shall inherit the Earth
I mean, this was built to Geddy's personal specifications so....Yeah, it is exactly what I've always wanted in a bass preamp.I've also been running my guitar and synths through the "Drive" section and it sounds frickin awesome. Really killer warm tones.I would highly recommend this piece of gear.

The 2112 rocks!
Woohoo! Now I sound just like Geddy Lee and can play all the Rush songs just like him, too! Well, not really :-) The unit arrived on time and packaged well. It operates exactly as described. Although I am just a hobby bass player it is fun to dial in different sounds on the 2112 unit... from clean to machine-gun rough while still reatining clarity. Having two outputs allows for easily biamping and controlling the low lows somewhat independently of the other output. I am happy with this purchae!
