Not At All What I Expected!
I've been dithering over reviewing this book since it arrived at my door months ago. The recipes are mostly fine, some even attractive, but there was just something about this book . . . . . And then I realized what it was.The book is rather oddly arranged. When I read "at the Palace" in the title I expected something like Darren McGrady's books, where he always has a story about which palace a particular dish was from. It seems that as the royal family changes residences they also change their diet in favor of what is local or seasonal in that particular location. Or perhaps something like the National Trust cookbooks. The National Trust owns hundreds of properties all over the UK. While you can rent some of them for a holiday, many have been turned into museums and tourist spots, always complete with a tea room, each of which features special recipes unique to that area.Sadly, the ONLY thing that any of these recipes have to do with any of the featured palaces is that they are lumped into a section under the name of that particular palace with very little rhyme or reason and no story. Most of them are not traditional British Christmas recipes. The Christmas Pudding is made of ice cream (nice idea but not Christmas Pudding) and there is no Christmas Cake. Instead one gets a French Yule log.Grandma's $0.02 - Not high on my list. If you want traditional British Christmas then look to Mary Berry, always very easy and accessible, or Delia Smith, a bit posher (Not the Mary isn't.).

Lovely ‘little’ Book! Very little!
It is a lovely little book but the keyword here is ‘little’. For the price I was expecting something of a substantial size. When I say size I’m talking about the overall size as opposed to thickness. It’s not much bigger than A5 which means that the writing on each page is rather small! I was expecting a standard A4ish sized cookbook but this is not that. So I’m rather disappointed as we’re it larger it would be a really beautiful book to add to my collection. I will struggle to read this, even with my glasses on!
