Excellent detector from a pro-level company
Klein Tools also makes a pen style detector but I did not need one that fits in a shirt pocket. So I went with the full-sized user interface and gooseneck. The gooseneck was convenient for some spots. I read a lot of reviews where no detection occurs so I tested it in a safe way and it detected immediately on a tiny amount of natural gas at the most sensitive setting. I think people blast the device with a ton of gas when testing and maybe that overloads it. Detection range is in a range measured in parts per MILLION so keep that in mind. Anyway, Klein Tools is an old top of the line company and I would go with them. The price is reasonable. Very easy to use and read what is going on. It’s very much an important tool to have to keep things safe.

Excellent, easy to use tool.
I tired other "sniffers" that were just completely worthless. This tool is very simple to operate and conclusively confirms whether there is a gas leak--and if so, where it is coming from. The variable response alert system shows the intensity of any leak, or even better, no leak at all. It is very clear, thereby imparting full confidence in the results. (Because it showed I did not have a leak at the time, I tested this by opening an unlit gas burner and "searched" for it. It worked perfectly.) An invaluable, easy too use tool for all-important peace of mind. Highly recommend.

Excellent device at the right price
I used this device to track down a gas leak in my rental property. A tenant kept complaining about a "strong gas odor" but neither I nor other tenants were able to smell it. With this device, I immediately picked up a low level presence of gas in the building, and tracked it down to exactly where it was entering the building along the electrical service conduit coming from the street. A major leak had developed in the underground main and gas was seeping through the ground into openings in the surrounding buildings. This device responds to changes in the amount of gas within 1-2 seconds, quickly enough to sweep around and pinpoint the source. It takes one minute to warm up and calibrate in fresh air, then you enter the area on high sensitivity, switch to low when you max out, and continue until you find the source. Easy. I have owned other Klein tools in the past and they have never disappointed. This one is no exception. It's a bit more expensive than the cheapest no-name options sold on Amazon, but you really can't put a price on peace of mind and quality.

Sensitive
I use this gas leak detector at work, and it performs very well. It is easy to use, highly sensitive, and quickly detects gas leaks. The alarm is loud and clear, which helps improve safety on the job. It’s compact, reliable, and a great tool for professional use. I definitely recommend it.

Klein gas detector
Very prompt shipment. Klein gas sniffer is of professional quality. I found a small gas leak in newly installed hot water heater. Plumber had the same sniffer and laughed when he saw mine.

Saved my butt twice
I had been trying to track down a smelly leak in a commercial range off and on for two years. Multiple bottles of soapy spray revealed nothing. Kitchen erratically remained smelly of propane/H2S. Desperate I bought this tester. I takes a while to calibrate and is very slow to respond, so just waving the wand doesn't give useful information. One has to be very patient, and frequently recalibrating, so it took me quite a while how best to use. It found THREE independent leaks, none of which was the stove-to-supply pipeline (the one most likely to leak). Replaced the parts, and success. Visiting my neighbor, her house stank of propane. Shed had a huge mouse infestation over the winter and thought the smell was mouse urine. The entire house beeped in alarm at the level of gas. Half an hour of searching, venting the house, turning off appliances, etc., and I found a huge leak that was so fast it didn't blow any bubbles, just hissed. I had sprayed the leak with soap solution, but only found the leak with this sniffer. Once tightened, the bubbles showed slowly and proved what had to be replaced. For 40 years I had always just used soapy water. Absolutely proved to me the importance of a good sniffer (in addition to soapy water, a good nose and ears, etc.) Just be patient in figuring out the alarms; there will be a lot of false alarms and missed leaks if you go too fast.

Works well and I trust Klein quality
There are very expensive professional level meters and a bunch of inexpensive Chinese meters out there. I don't need the pro tool and I don't trust the inexpensive one. I've been buying Klein tools for decades and they always perform well. I bought this because the gas alarm goes off in our travel trailer every once in a while and I want to find what the problem is. This came today and I tried it on the kitchen gas stove and on the NG BBQ outside. It seems that the high sensitivity setting is very sensitive and responsive. I turned on a burner in the trailer and it immediately went off. I opened the door and held the wand outside and up high and it went off. I brought it back inside and set it beside the burner (which was off) and it was still alerting with fast beeping and five bars. I went to the bedroom and turned on the fantastic fan which sucked air in the open door by the kitchen and exhausted it out the roof. After 15 seconds it dropped a bar and started beeping slower. After a minute the gas was exhausted and it stopped alerting. This seems to be an excellent product and is easy to use.

What a great nose this thing has!
I had an outdoor gas leak that I could not locate. My cheap gas detector registered nothing, when I could clearly smell gas. I purchased this unit and put it to work. Much better sensitivity, it clearly registered flammable gas when I could even faintly smell it. With a little patience, walking around the area, I was able to zoom in on sections with multiple bars and a louder audible pitch. I zeroed in to a section of pipe where I got maxed out readings and found a worn area of the pipe that was leaking. A little more expensive, but worth it, it works well.

Flat batteries
A little disappointed to find that the batteries that came with the unit were flat and wouldn’t power the unit. Once batteries were changed everything was fine.

Piece of mind - works a treat, highly accurate, esp when locating in a line/ appliance. Excellent.
I had to weigh up getting in a gas professional to diagnose severity and location of a possible leak and buying this product.. I did the latter, because I was not prepared to wait. I'm glad I did - old gas oven was leaking past 10mill PPM. Turned off at the mains. No other leaks. Really glad I bought into the tool and took care of it myself. I also appeciate having low or high sensitivity. Only criticism would be I'd like a high PPM for the big leak, but really trivial when it's designed for finding small leaks, more than anything.

No Tech support
Have used the gas tester to locate leaks however the tester can give false readings at times depending on the setting of the Auto Zero calibration button. If the device is left to self calibrate on startup, it can give a constant low level reading throughout the whole house. The detector head is also sensitive to heat and if you cup your hand over the sensor it will start to show low level gas. So if you calibrate in outside clean air where it is cooler, it can give a false low level reading when you bring it in to a room that is warm. If you push the Auto Zero button on startup (Auto Zero light now off) it will still calibrate but now there are no false readings. Raised this issue with Klein Technical Support but after 8 weeks with no technical response despite constant follow up, I can only assume Klein has no clue as to why the issues happen as they simply rebadge a genetic Chinese made tester.
