One of the BEST BOOKS EVER
I heard the author interviewed on the radio last week, and heard a few of the poems in the book. I was sold then and there, and immediately pre-ordered the book here on Amazon. Well, the book arrived yesterday and I promptly read about two-thirds of it -- I had to force myself to put it down and go to bed. It is phenomenally wonderful. Insouciant, silly, genius and just plain FUN. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I'll be giving it to several dear friends for Christmas !!!!! NOTE: I feel that anybody who doesn't "get" (i.e., understand and thoroughly enjoy) this book is simply one of those stick-in-the-mud serious types; only insouciant types will really love this. If you like to have fun, and you like to be silly, and you're playful in life, well, this book is for you. Ignore the few Debbie-Downer reviews. This book is just too glorious for them!

Witty, touching, and fun for all readers!
My daughter received this book for her 11th birthday and has read it cover-to-cover three times so far. She has also read portions aloud for several friends and for family at Thanksgiving, resulting in uncontrollable laughter and shouts of "I must buy this book!" from listeners. A variety of poems --from witty to touching to thought-provoking to just plain silly -- are interwoven with relevant illustrations. The best way to read the book the first time is literally cover-to-cover. Read every word (including notes, acknowledgments, and indices) and look at every illustration, because there is continuity that carries you through the book if you pay attention. I'm grateful for this book that has the children in my life turning off electronic devices, preferring to read to one another, to laugh together, and to engage in discussions about growing up, taking responsibility, and caring for one another.

I’m just no good at rhyming
The illustrations in this book at first glance seem simple since they aren’t in color but when you look deeper they are fantastic. That’s what draws you in at first! Then you read the poems, and at first you again you might think they are horrible…but listen to them, think what he is saying…they are genius! I adore this book!!

Great for anyone who likes to read
My 9 year old son loves this book. He read it cover to cover within a day of getting it. It's very funny and clever. It's a great gift for kids who like to read.

My grandson is quite bright, but doesn't want to read out loud to his mom ( he is being home schooled). I sent this book to him and he LOVES it, so much so that he couldn't wait to read it out loud to his mom and today, over the phone to me!

Fun Shel Silverstein successor?
My grandson (8) brought this to me when I asked for recommendations of what to read to my library classes. The two of us re-read the whole book together and I picked selections to read to my 3-6 grade classes. The older kids especially enjoyed it, probably because they were quicker to catch on to some of the silly jokes and word-play. Not only do I highly recommend this book, but it is on the list of desired acquisitions for the library now. Make sure you read the dedications, etc.

ridiculous in all the best ways - a hit
This book lived up to expectations and beyond - I bought it for my nephew who had just turned 11, and he loved it. He showed it to everyone who walked into the house and shared with his 14-year-old brother, too. Both enjoyed reading the rhymes--or in some cases, NON-RHYMES--out loud. Adults and kids both loved it and I felt like a superstar aunt for finding it. More like this, please. :)

Great book for kids and parents to enjoy together
Ive been reading this with my 6 and 10 year old girls and they absolutely love it! Some of the poems and rhymes are little above the youngest s understanding, but I’m sure this is a book we’ll return to again and again when she’s older.

If you loved 'Magic Roundabout', you'll love this
Terrific book for both adults and children alike. Although I suspect that younger children may take some time to 'get it'.

Laughed so hard we cried!
This is one of the funniest poetry books we have ever read! Our whole family loves it! The first time we read it we laughed so hard we had tears running down our faces and could hardly read it aloud! When friends come over our kids pull it out to read their favourites to them! Its fantastic! Avocado!
