I won't use anything else
I'm on my second one of these for my iPhone 7 Plus. Yes, I still use that phone, largely because of this product. 5 years later and my phone is still a champ and doesn't even have the smallest scratch or blemish on it. I almost wish something would happen so that I have an excuse to upgrade. At this rate, I could still be using this phone when they come out with the iPhone 27. As it is, I am not quite as in love with this second Otterbox as I was the first one. The outer case is stiffer and doesn't fit quite as well on one corner, even though it is perfectly adequate and there's no slippage. But the other one had had it and after 4 years, some of the rubber perimeter had started to peel. I'll take a case that puts up with me, protects my phone, and lasts that long any day. The other downside to either of these cases is that the fingerprint area has to be very clean or it won't read the fingerprint. On this case, that means removing it entirely to clean both the inside and outside of the little lens over the fingerprint reader. Without it, a quick wipe of the phone screen on a shirt tail or tissue would take care of that. Otterbox cases do require periodic disassembly in general anyway as they tend to trap dirt. It's not a big deal though as about 5 minutes a month is more than adequate. Construction is solid and it makes the phone impervious to drops. I've dropped mine from 6 ft before, but my wife has dropped hers off a 10 ft balcony onto concrete with no damage. It really is that good. A year later, no dysfunction. The face edges are high, the corners are well protected, the face has a shield, and the back is well cushioned rubber that repels moisture like that of a wet table. There is literally no possibility of dropping a phone on a flat surface from normal heights in such a manner that it will hurt the phone. I would caution that if your phone gets wet, you'd better be fast, and this case doesn't just snap on and off. It takes 30-60 seconds to remove the case. In the meantime, the water is held against the phone and won't drain. It's happened a couple of times to me and there were no issues, but it's something to consider. The second thing is that it's a little difficult to swipe up the bottom menu. I think the edge just comes up a little too high for me and my big thumb to adequately catch the edge.

Wish it was just a tiny bit better
I like this case a lot. There are pros and cons to using it, however. Pros: -Durability unmatched by any case -Quality of materials is the best I've ever encountered -The case protects the port and vibration/ring switch -The case fits snugly around the phone -The buttons all match up and work easily -The port covers are very easy to open but also very secure -The fingerprint scanner works pretty well, even with the cover from the case. I think it works better than it did without it because it shows smudges less... I haven't needed to redo my fingerprint like I had to without the case. -Handles drops like a champ. I throw my phone around because I know it can handle it. The peace of mind is great. I don't freak out when I drop it. I dropped it so badly while in line at the deli, and it was unscathed. Cons: -I scratched the front screen protector probably with my keys in my purse. I wish that part was more durable or self-healing. -The case is heavy, and it causes fatigue in my arms. -There is not a phone holder specifically for this phone for cars. -The top speaker area is susceptible to water getting in. When that happens, it goes down in between the screen and the case, and the whole case needs taken off to fix that. I had this happen with one measly drop off water from my hair after a shower. They should have a seal around the case edging around the hole there. -The reason I have to take this case off at all is because, again, that annoying top hole around the speaker is unsealed. Dust also migrates down there, necessitating cleaning. Bottom line, I would buy this phone case again, especially since no other case protects as well as this. This thing is super rugged. I like it a lot. I just wish it was also waterproof and dustproof.

The Most Dependable, Durable Case That You Can Buy
If you are in construction, or put your phone in any situation where there is a possibility for it to be damaged, then you need the most durable protection that there is. In my opinion, the Otterbox is the way to go. It offers different levels of durability for different types of use, and the Defender Series in particular is an excellent option for heavy duty use. It fits perfectly to the iPhone and travels in a work truck to a construction site on a daily basis. It is exposed to dirt and dust, falls, vibrations and the phone in unscathed when you take it out of the case. The best protection that money can buy. The fingerprint reader works perfectly every time despite having dust and dirt on the cover on occasion. The plastic case is a perfect fit; the phone doesn't have any room to move while locked inside the case. It snaps together securely. The silicon cover slips over the case perfectly as well and is snug to the case. It offers great grip and a sturdy feel. It feels good in your hand. I highly recommend Otterbox as a brand and the Defender Series if you want excellent protection against any damage. It is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to a phone case, but it is necessary if you need that type of security and it is worth every penny. Plus, Otterbox stands by their products and have great warranty as well as customer service. Overall satisfaction is through the roof on this product. Now if they just added a wider variety of colors...

Good product but has changed over the years
I have always used otterboxes for my phones. I have a tendency to drop them. So I have had many over my life time. Each time I get a new phone, I get an otterbox for it to go in. Well, the last one the silicone casing around the plastic frame was so much more plyable and seemed more shock resistant. This one has not failed yet, but it seems much harder. Also, with the stiffness of this product, I fear that it will not be too long before the flap that covers the lighting cable port breaks off. I might be wrong, but..... that is what I predict will happen. Also, the fingerprint area, gets scratched up and wrinkled after a while. It no longer consistently reads my fingerprint and I am finding I have to enter my pass code more and more often. Otherwise I love this product. I have never had a phone break while using an otterbox... and I am really hard on my phone. Like close it in a car door kinda rough and it is still protecting my phone. The only time I have had issues is when I take my phone out of the case to wash the case as stuff does get into it ( crumbs from the cookie my two year old put in my purse, dust, dog hair, occasionally moisture.) . When I have it off to wash ( I throw it in the dishwasher on the top shelf so it gets all the corners and crevices.) THAT is the only time I tend to break my phone....lol otherwise my phones look like the day I took them out of the box.

PROtection for an iPhone 8 plus!
OtterBox Defender series for a refurbished iPhone 8 Plus. Yes the case is somewhat bulky/thick as other reviews have said. If you want sleek try another. BUT you risk a broken phone! It's all about your own lifestyle. Have you seen how hard on things 14 year olds can be? This case is excellent. My daughter loves it. She got a huge smile on her face when she saw it was an OtterBox. I love it as a parent because I bought the phone for Christmas. Dad's don't like broken phones they paid for! $ doesn't grow on trees! The case PROtects an expensive phone! Triple layer protection. I don't want cheap and sleek (risky) I WANT PROTECTION for my 14 year old's lifestyle of 'Ooops! sorry dad' The silicone rubber slipcover makes it easy to grip and she loves the holster with clip since the phone and case pop in and out of it with a firm secure click. When out and about she can holster it (teen girls have a lot of clothes for style, which means no pockets), when home pop it out of the holster. Holster rotates on the clip too. She noticed the port covers right away and was excited about that too. Again, lifestyle. That phone is going to be everywhere, near dirt, dust, spills, the cats, her younger sister! I have seen questions asking what kind of tempered glass screen protector will work with this case and an iPhone 8 Plus. I used JETtech brand tempered glass because it had great reviews and I can say it was no problem coupled with this case. Installed the glass and the case still snapped together perfectly. Only one minor problem. The Apple logo is slightly low in the hole on back. I think that is because it also fits an iPhone 7 so that would be on Apple for slightly moving the logo from 7 plus to 8 plus iPhone. That is minor however. It is all about the protection.

Its a really good case for construction worker and people who just want their phone to be very secure
This an excelent case i have had it for over 5 month now and it is still in great condition. I work in construction and have noticed that this case is very well built and can protect my phone from many falls and drops. Before i had this case i had a UAG plasma case i still use it to this day but i preffer the protection of a otterbox defender because it makes my phone feel more durable and tough. I read the reviews and i am here to debunk some common erros. 1. This case is not meant to be used with a glass/plastic screen protector which is why the case come with a plastice screen protector already installed into the case. 2. Dust will find a way to get in between the phone screen and screenprotector so it is still recomended to take your phone out of its case and clean it for dust. Also clean the back of the screen protector as it may have dust stuck to it. 3. When you first get your case and put it on there will be a rainbow effect in the middle of your phone I do not know why it is there or why it happens but it is there and there is nothing you can do to get rid of it the only solution i found is that you can just wait until it natrually disapears in about a weeks time. My theory is that the screen protector is making contact with your iphone screen and the oils on your phone and screen protector touch and cause the rainbow effect. What i love about this case is how it can protect your phone from long drops and how it makes your phone feel like a brick and tough. I hope this helped you decide on making your purchase thank you for your time

Still the best case to protect your phone
Each smartphone that I’ve had has been protected by an Otterbox Defender Series cover, and I’ve never had to replace a screen yet, despite having dropped each of my phones many times. Before each purchase, I’ve read the reviews here, and this time the reviews had me concerned that I would need to add a glass screen protector to my iPhone 8 Plus to keep it completely safe. I even purchased one, but in the end, I just put my new phone into the Otterbox and didn’t remove the plastic screen protector it comes with. After over eight months of drops and general clumsiness, my screen still looks like new, and I’m glad that I didn’t lose any touchscreen sensitivity by putting a glass screen protector on it. Also, some of the reviews warned that the Apple logo was off-center when you put this case on an 8 Plus. It’s hardly noticeable, and I’m not certain that I would have noticed it without having read the reviews. (I don’t buy this brand of phones as a status symbol, but rather because they’re intuitive, user-friendly, and pretty safe from hackers. So, the Apple logo not being PERFECTLY centered top-to-bottom in the back of the case’s window isn’t very important to me. It’s really not obvious.) Also, I read about the issues that other reviews cited with the color of the cases not wearing well for very long (e.g., collecting dirt, not staying the original pretty color, etc.). Luckily, I PREFER the practicality of having a black case, so I don’t have to worry about it no longer looking great after some daily wear & tear. You may want to think about choosing this option, too. Another issue that other reviews have referenced is the clear plastic that is over the home button may sometimes appear bubbly and might make you think that you won’t be able to use the Touch ID function. (My previous Otterbox model for my 5S had a cut-out in the plastic screen cover over the home button.) The clear plastic over the home button does still allow the Touch ID to work, even if it doesn’t always LOOK like it will get a clear impression of your fingertip. I don’t recommend you start cutting the plastic off that part of your Otterbox’s cover until you know that it’s truly necessary for you. The new design keeps a lot less dirt from getting inside the case than the previous design did. Give it a try first. I still recommend Otterbox Defender Series 100%. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Update (Jan. 1, 2020) I still have never had a broken or scratched screen with this OtterBox on my phone. I’m also still glad that I didn’t remove the plastic screen protector that came with the cover and swap it out for a glass one. The plastic one protects just fine, and I’m glad that I didn’t lose any screen sensitivity because of thinking that a glass screen protector might be safer. A couple new comments about this case: -The OtterBox can allow water to get between the phone and the case. Sometimes the water will evaporate on its own, and sometimes I have to take the case apart and dry everything off. I just now try to remember to tuck it in my pocket or purse when it’s raining (rather than having it in my hand) or turn it screen-side-down if it’s sitting near a sink or somewhere it might get splashed by a little liquid. -Sometimes the thin, Saran Wrap-like plastic that covers the home button will get something between itself and the home button, making it not recognize my fingerprint in Touch ID. If I have time to take it apart and clean it with a lens-cleaning wipe, then the Touch ID usually starts working fine again. (It’s not a bad idea to periodically take the OtterBox apart & completely wipe the phone & case down, anyway, in order to get rid of any dust or dirt that has found its way inside the case.) I still highly recommend this case to keep your phone looking like new, even if the Touch ID occasionally has problems recognizing your fingerprint.

Enorme, mas protege muito bem!
É exatamente igual a minha anterior.
