Loved it. Read it first as a teenager and found that the theme intrigued me even as an adult. A really nice read.

Good language. Predictable plot. Read only half. Not planning to finish it. Ever.

I still have the first publication of Shanna in my bookcase, I have reread it many times over the years and still enjoy it. But i think the older you get you see all the flaws that you never saw before, the fact that a man would put himself through being a virtual slave because he couldn't bare to be apart from a woman that he had only spent a few hours with makes the mind boggle. Shanna comes across as being terribly spoilt and doesn't become likeable until the very end of the book, and the many times that the word "beautiful" describing Shanna were uttered makes you want to scream Ok she's beautiful, we get it. Regardless of all this I will probably still reread my Kindle version again one day. I have most of Kathleen E Woodiwiss books and have replaced some onto my Kindle so looking forward to reading them again.

I couldn't put it down, that is why I gave it 5 stars. I started of with Kathleen E Woodiwiss paper backs years ago and now they are in e books, I can't get my fill of them. I will treasure these as I did her paper backs thank you for bringing them back into my life.

Way to long for my liking. Skipped lines and pages so not a good sign. Too many things happening, to many characters and too much description about nothing very interesting. Would be a good story if shorter, hence 3 stars. To me it was a mix of historical (Victorian?), pirates and western genre.Her father keeps annoying her about getting married so she goes to a prison and seeks a person who she can marry and who will hang after. She is cunning and devious but has she met her match in her new soon to be dead husband. He agrees to marry her and give her his name in return for a night of pleasure. Of course once married she reneges on her part of the deal. She sees herself now as a widow.He is not hung but purchased as a bondsman and ends up on her fathers island as a slave. Between the two of them all hell breaks loose until she succumbs to his kisses. Neither tell anyone the truth of their relationship until towards the end when all is revealed

This is one of my all time favorite romance novels. It’s got a really great adventure plot line and some solid romance. There are some problematic parts and the main two characters both mildly suck, but that’s what makes them so good together. What sets this apart from other romance novels is that the romance is well paced and very well written. The plot outside the romance is also very interesting and doesn’t drag on at any point.
