Dare to Fall
From Lala’s Book ReviewsDare to Fall is a fast-paced story about two teenagers learning how to deal with the death of close family members. At the age of 13 Kenzie’s baby sister died stillborn, so for four years, she has been carrying this weight around because in her parents have never dealt with the death of their child and find ways to deal with the grief differently. After Jaden’s parents died, Kenzie wasn’t sure how the death would affect, would it leave him broken like her parents or would he be able to keep living his life without the presence of his parents. It’s amazing to see the different ways that grief affects people. There’s the type of people who try to unhealthy ways of coping and those who accept death and try to live life to the fullest.Going into this story, I wasn’t sure how exactly how Jaden and Kenzie would repair their relationship because, when Jaden needed her the most, she left him and didn’t look back. I didn’t know if he would be resentful and angry or just upset that she wasn’t there.I felt like the transition from not talking to trying to mend what was left very natural and healthy. It wasn’t like they went from radio silence to full blast noise, but a gradual development of okay we’re talking again let’s see where this takes us. Even after a year of not talking, they fell into a similar relationship like the one they had had a year ago.In stories were somebody is “broken” and not who they use to be, it’s easy for the author to have that person use the other person for a distraction to get their mind off of the pain, but Jaden was honest to goodness a gentleman throughout all of the story and never used Kenzie in any way. It’s obvious that, despite all of the unknowns they face, the feelings between Jaden and Kenzie are real and not forged by the grief and heartache of the situation. Will, Kenzie’s best friend, might be one of my favorite book friends. I mean he’s a hard-working student (hello he’s taking physics), supportive, funny, and he’s basically Switzerland between Kenzie and Holden argue. It’s one of those, you have to read about him to get the overall picture, but tbh he’s the best. One of my favorite scenes is when Jaden shows up at the bowling alley where Kenzie works. Jaden just so happens to conveniently walks in with his grandparents to play a game five minutes before Kenzie get off from work. Since Kenzie has decided that she wants to try and fix their relationship, she stays and plays with Jaden and his grandparents. Later that night after she goes home to eat supper, Kenzie goes over to Jaden’s house, and their relationship slowly starts to become more.I highly recommend this book not only because it is a fast read, but because it shows the different ways that death and grief effects people. Even though one of the main themes of this book is grief, it is not a “dark and depressing” story. The characters are not cooped in their rooms, but instead going to football games, homecoming, and spending time with their friends. It shows that grief is a natural reaction to death, but it shouldn’t take over your life.

Great, emotional read
Dare to Fall is the story of MacKenzie and Jaden: their tragedies, their families and their friends and their relationship.Kenzie has separated herself from Jaden (her boyfriend) and Danielle (her best friend) after the death of their parents because she doesn't know how to treat them. The story picks up a year after this tragedy, and Kenzie is still avoiding them. It's hard to understand this at first: Kenzie seems selfish and I found myself shouting "it's not about you" at various points. Later, we come to learn that there is more to it than this, that Kenzie is dealing with her own grief, or rather, struggling to acknowledge her own grief.Grief is a big theme of this book: everyone in the book is grieving differently and the author writes about it all beautifully.Jaden and Kenzie meet by chance when Kenzie is trying to buy cheap alcohol for her mum, and this sparks an attempt to rebuild their relationship which becomes a huge focus of the book. Along the way, Kenzie learns to deal with her own grief and that of those around her. Everyone is forced to face up to their actions and it makes for a really interesting story with some jaw dropping moments. The twist at the end that made me sick to my stomach, but also made me feel silly for not guessing sooner. I just wish we knew how that particular storyline concluded because I needed some closure there.I would definitely recommend Dare to Fall to others, but be prepared for it to play with your emotions.

Wonderful read
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. Kenzie learned to deal with tragedy from her parents which is not deal with it at all. She does her think by withdraws from her boyfriend Jaden and from her best friend Danielle after their parents are killed in a car accident. Then just by chance they meet again and she has been missing. She is not sure she wants to take the chance of falling in love with him and she is struggling with her emotions.

I bought this book because I absolutely loved the DIMILY series
I bought this book because I absolutely loved the DIMILY series. If I'm honest whilst this one is OK its not great. I struggled to like the main character, and I was equally perplexed about how her best friend and almost boyfriend simply forgave and forgot her behaviour in the blink of an eye, almost as if they were to blame. Neither did I get the point of the ex-boyfriend. Overall I just feel that all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle were here to turn this into a really great story but the pieces have been put together in the wrong order somehow.

"I feel my heart breaking and cutting through my chest."When I started Dare To Fall last night I had no idea it would keep me up till 1am. But I just couldn't stop reading, I love Kenzie and her story also I'm a little in love with Jaden. The only reason this isn't a five star review is because the ending felt a little rushed h and there was no epilogue. Please say Dani gets her own book??

INCREDIBLE
What an incredible book, I didn't think this book would be able to top DIMILY books but this one is in a league of its own, from start to finish I found myself loving and hating and also understanding each of the characters, they are all so different. I would highly recommend this book and all of the other books Estelle has written, she is a fabulous writer and can't wait for the next one!
