A must READ!
This is a cute story with a great Cinderella twist. I loved that there were lyrics within the story to help us envision Maude and Matt. Maude is such a strong character in this sweet sad story of an orphan who is treated as a maid. By the age of sixteen Maude has learned how to manipulate things and was able to go to Paris, not knowing her world is about to change. Maude has had her fair shares of pain, isolation and denial, she uses music as a comfort; the lyrics are amazing. Maude must face betrayals, misunderstandings, triumph and a whole new world full of wonder and surprises, and face new challenges. I love how Maude and Matt meet the first time and how from the first moment she didn’t hold back. I loved Matt and Maude’s banter and how easy it was for them to just be them, how they were drawn to one another even though they didn’t realize it. I loved Matt in this story, he is a handsome, famous, intelligent yet caring young musician who grows within the story. I especially loved the twist in the end, I wasn’t expecting it. This is a story about a young intelligent woman finding the courage to fight for what she wants and taking a risk. Its about finding her place in life, a place she belongs and able to finally live. This story is full of new beginnings, friendships, betrayals, love, family, redemption, challenges, courage, misunderstandings, secrets, meglect and success. I loved it! It’s a great read

Highly Enjoyable and Worth Your Time
Even though I had read the synopsis, based on the cover of the book, I expected to read some gushy girly story about an only-child prodigy, with adoring parents, who makes it big in the music industry and oh! a handsome man is here too? Should I fall in love? Don’t mind if I do! But don’t let the cover fool you as it did me because that isn’t what this story is at all and I adored this book because of it.After the first couple of chapters, it seemed like it was going to be an enjoyable modern remake of Cinderella, but it was so much better than that. The story about Maude’s life going from ordinary to extraordinary had a tastefully done, but subtle love triangle, anger, jealousy, sacrifices, lies, deceit, and betrayal, strong sibling bonds, acceptance, fear, protectiveness, family bonds, deep pain and struggles, truth coming to light after a time of darkness, and so much more, all gracefully spun into one book.I appreciated and enjoyed how Anna Adams mixed opera and pop songs together with respectful elegance and managed to capture each character’s inner thoughts and emotions, switching smoothly between each character from an omniscient point-of-view. I was utterly shocked and rather disappointed when I found out that this is a series. I felt that this book was good just on its own, without adding any other scenarios or issues to bother poor Maude. But, that doesn’t take away the uniqueness and beauty away from “A French Girl in New York”, because it was a beautiful book that I had the pleasure of reading.

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! This book is AMAZING.it mixes up all the different genres in book history, comedy,Drama, Romance, Adventure, part Mystery, Suspence.....I love this book because it's interesting. Its about this girl who lives in northern France and is sixteen and lives with her awful foster parents. Then one day with her school, she travels to Paris for a day. She stops at a cafe and gets invited on stage. She's been playing the piano and singing for five years, she foes one stage and sings an Edith PiafSong. In the audience is a music guy who makes people famous or whatever and he makes her sign a record deal. She has to move to New York for six months though. She gladly leaves her evil foster parents house and goes to New York, thats where she writes her first album. The famous making guy is named James Baldwin and takes her in with his family, wife, 18 year old daughter, 16 year old daughter, and 11 year old son. She falls in love, and drives down the road of fame. Its an amazing book about friendship, loyalty, and trust. Then she tries to learn about her dead parents, only to find a startling discovery about them, and the Baldwin family. An amazing book, I would not recommend to 8 and under. I would say 9 and up. Very good. Incredible. Highly recommend. LOVE IT!!! I can't wait to get the next book. Anna Adams Is an amazing novelist, for tweens and teens. Please get.I

Beautiful.
Wow. A French Girl in New York is a Cinderella story, about an orphan living in Northern France with a foster family that treats her very poorly. Forced to work from dawn to dusk, caring for the family children, cleaning, waiting on the mistress of the house, and expected to attend school and do well in her classes at the same time. Maude Laurent teaches herself piano on Saturday afternoons while her mistress is with friends. For five years, the piano sessions are what keep her going. At the age of 16, she manipulates a grade to be allowed to go on a day trip to Paris and her life begins to change.A French Girl in New York is a story of new beginnings, of misunderstandings, of family, love, betrayal, and triumph. The sole shortcoming in this book is that the lyrics to the songs aren't very good. I don't hold that against the book because if you actually listen to most lyrics, they really aren't that good. That doesn't stop a song from touching a chord with people or from becoming a huge hit, and these lyrics in no way stop this story from being both believable and touching. The story is well written. The insights on the music industry are plausible, which matters because music is at the heart of this story. The author captures the confusion of being a teenager without ever descending into parody or becoming melodramatic. Adults and teens both will love this story. Teens can recognize the turmoil of being a teen, and adults can recall that turmoil without being embarrassed by the characters. That is a difficult balance to strike. Author Anna Adams deserves praise for this beautiful, touching tale.

From decent story to a lot of cheese
I can't not say that i really enjoyed this reading ths book. Because I very much did. The beginning was good and everything.........but there a few points I need to make.THE LOVE TRIANGLE is awful! I mean geez choosing over Matt and Thomas Bradfield, it's not exactly hard. This book went on a bit too much for my taste, but I wish the author scratched out those aawkward moments between Matt and Maude.THE GRAMMAR really needs working on. The author should definitely get a proper editor. I noticed loads of grammar mistakes.THE CHEESE can be ignored. The cheesyiness of this story is, well, rather annoying. But it can be ignored if you try hard enough. But to be honest, I do love a cheesy book or film now and then.THE CHARACTERS are, in my opinion, very well written. They are all different and have so much personality. This one thing the author really did well.WARNING if you do in fact, end up enjoying this book, and want to read the rest in the series......DON'T!!!!!! Just read this and make yourself belive it's a happy ending. Please, I suffered so you didn't have too. For more info on this, check out my other reviews on the other books in the series (which I will put up soon) it'll be set out like this. Read this one forst though.I did overall, enjoy this book, would've given it 5* if it weren't for the cheese. I would reccommend for girls, just because I think they would enjoy the content more. But still boys, you can read this too!Enjoy!

Started with potential, ended in cheese
I started reading this a while back, and was immediately hooked. The idea of a French girl making a break to Paris, and then further to New York to pursue her dreams for her big break? A great story could derive from that. After reading the entire thing, I can understand the reasons for the author's writing style and the way she went about telling the story, but from the point where the book started to discuss Matt and Maude's exploration of New York, it became way too predictable. And I mean, I pretty much guessed the story from there till the end.And then came the issue of her mysterious parents, and just... words can't describe how cheesy and cliched the whole story became. It was all too obvious what was going to happen at the end. I enjoyed the French girl at the start who struggled with her English and was naive to the American world around her, but it quickly turned into an unnecessary love story which was given away from the start.I also felt that the writer told the story too much, instead of showing readers what was happening, probably because I'm older than the target audience. Personally for me, the book was way too predictable, and it just got to the point where I skipped page upon page because it was way too cringe-worthy, but if you're in the demographic for this story, then you'll probably find it a durable read.

A French girl in New York
I love this book it is by far my favourite book of the series (I'm still on the 4 book).I totally ship Matt and Maude and I think Linsey and Thomas should be together as they are both as evil as each other. Not only do I love the romance,I love the big twist at the end and her feisty personality. Also,I pity her for her sad background as she has been living most of her life in enslavement by the Ruchets until she goes to Paris and meets the one and only James Balwin, who changes her life with music.

Too clunky and unoriginal…
I only read the first couple of chapters and, if I'm honest, it was just so boring. Nothing much happened that made the plot thicken and it was very dull, I couldn't be bothered to finish and so deleted it from my Kindle. A typical teenage romance story, blah blah blah. Unoriginal, no different from the rest. It seemed like a child wrote it, the wording was quite frankly too try-hard like the author was aiming to get graded for her vocabulary and so crammed a whole load of unnecessary words in. Some would argue that it makes the story have depth and beauty but I just think it was clunky and unrealistic. I know I'm in the minority but it just wasn't for me thanks :(
