DO NOT BUY - THIS UNIT IS 12 YEARS OLD AND UNSUPPORTED BY AMBIR
I had to put 1 star... the system doesn't allow for zero stars. After multiple attempts to get this unit to work, I reached out to AMBIR support. My request was met with the following: "Based upon the serial number provided it appears that this scanner is about 12 years old and may have compatibility issues working with newer computer hardware due to changes in the Windows operating system. Please be aware that computer hardware has changed dramatically in the last 10 years and older hardware may not function or be recognized by the Windows OS when attempting to be installed." A second email from AMBIR support also confirmed that the seller, although listed as the AMBIR STORE isn't the actual AMBIR company - they are a third party reseller. I didn't realize they only offered a 30 day refund window and til we finally learned the truth about all of this, we were well past that... Maybe I can find a museum for antique technology interested in having this as one of their artifacts.

scanned only one side and did not scan the name
My PC TECH installed the card scanner. I bought it with the software license. it only read one side and did not scan the name. I returned it to Amazon. all the 5 star reviews bought it without the software license.
