Review: Very useful for checking temperatures around a large warehouse - I bought this specifically to check temperature differences at various points inside a warehouse, including surfaces at ground level and up near the roof, which is about 25 feet high. For that job it has worked extremely well. It is genuinely point and shoot, gives a reading almost instantly, and the laser makes it easy to see exactly where you are aiming even when checking something quite a distance away. I was able to compare temperatures around the floor, walls and roof structure without having to get a ladder out every time, which made the whole job considerably easier. The readings have been consistent when I have checked the same area more than once, and the display is clear and easy to read. It also feels reasonably solid rather than like a cheap gadget that will fall apart after a few uses. Simple tool, does exactly what I bought it for, and has already saved me a fair bit of messing around. Very happy with it.

**Q: What is the range (distance from gun to target) or recommended  for this gun?  How accurate is it at 6-8 feet range?**
A: The 12:1 ratio means at 12" the gun is accurate for a one inch spot. So at 6'-8' it will be accurate for a 6"-8" inch spot. So the farther you get away from the spot being measured, the less accurate it will be. Like Cheryl said, think of it like a cone.

**Q: Will this take the temperature of a  child's fever also?**
A: Please note that the infrared lasergrip thermometer units are not intended for human use. When measuring human skin, it will not provide a medically-accurate reading. Rest assured, it is not harmful, but will also not read internal temperatures accurately. They will only measure the surface of an object, and are designed more for industrial or household use (ovens, pipes, machinery, car parts, etc). **Q: Does this work on internal meat temperatures ?**
A: If you cut the meat in half you might be able to take the surface temperature of the meat, but then your meat is going to be cut in half and that's not real appetizing. Blue cheese is very appealing, maybe some bacon.

**Q: Can this thermometer get the temperature in a dryer?**
A: No. But the temperature in your dryer is different on every surface because of air circulation and reflection. The metal is much hotter than the air and the clothes are cold. Your looking for air temp so unless your planing on opening your dryer this is probably not the tool. If YOU ARE GOING TO OPEN THE DRIER, this will be perfect set the emissivity index for metal and you'll have an accurate measure of hot spots.

This thermometer is a great addition to any workstation. It fits nicely in the palm of the hand, shows a wide range of temperatures, and works at the click of a button.
