Simple but nice and chunky shapes
This is a solid cube, it is not the most complex with only six shapes and two holes on each side and at the top. All the shapes are nice and chunky for little hands and because they are quite chunky and the whole cube is simple it is perfect for younger toddlers, Our daughter is two and has been loving putting the shapes in and working out how they go, the simplistic nature for her means that she can concentrate on the shapes without distraction and I think sometimes simple is the best,The artwork is really nicely done, images of the Lion King around all the sides, it is bright and simple. I did not find any issues with the artwork and the print was good and consistent throughout. Our daughter keeps saying it's a Lion. The cube itself is smooth with no sharp edges or issues with the wood, it is fairly thick and all the shapes can be stored in the cube when not in use, you just slide the blue top off and on to do this. The top slides on in a groove to keep it secure as well. Its simple and basic but this is it's strength, nicely painted and great for little hands. It is perfect for younger toddlers to learn shapes, especially the little ones are Disney and Lion King fans. A nicely put together and artworked shape sorter.

Great quality and chunky
I'm starting to look out for this brand. Orange Tree Toys, as they use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) wood and everything is finished to high quality. The paint doesn't chip or flake. My 8 month old babies are a bit young for the main purpose of this set but they do like the bright colours and putting the bricks in their mouths (of course). Infants who visit who are a bit older have enjoyed showing them how it works though.I have a similar set from an unbranded mass produced offering and this is so much better, the wood is smoother, and chunkier (safer for small hands).Easily wiped down or rinsed under the tap for example.

Not a great finish. Paints chips
Absolutely love wooden toys, had a few toys from the orange tree toy brand and this is probably the worse one of all, felt quite disappointed in it. Comes well presented in a cardboard box. Inside you get the the wooden cube shape sorter and 6 chunky wooden shapes. The cube has cut out shapes around the 2 sides and also on the removable lid. At a glance it looks really nice, brightly coloured with the lion King characters painted on. On closer inspection the shapes had chips of paint before it was even played with and the cube looks poorly put together. Where each side joins each other, it's not neat at all; paint chips and rough edging. The bottom panel feels quite a thin piece of wood and it moves around. The top panel slides out to be able to empty out the shapes inside. The little shapes fit well through their designates holes, not being a tight fit at all. A good size for small hands to grab, hold and grasp. Ideal to help children develop fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and problem solving. Ideal for both boys and girls. I really wanted to love this, but with its poor quality/finish it just let it down. To me it definitely doesn't meet up to its premium price tag.

Wooden shape sorter - good quality, nice colours. But Lion King irrelevant to one-year-olds?
This is a well-made wooden shape sorter. There's no real twist on the classic toy other than the fact it has Lion King characters on the side. Personally, I'd think the target audience for this product (18 months+) has no idea what the Lion King is, but they might like the animals and colours all the same. There are 6 differently coloured shapes, and the lid of the box lifts up allowing them to be got back out.
