works with A7R3
better than the built-in mic

Good audio
The best things about this mic is its size and weight. It comes with a pouch which more than fits the mic, wind muff and cable - the whole fits in any pocket. Audio with the mic on is pretty good straight out of the camera. At least if you use the cable provided. When using the mic through the shoe mount, you lose control of audio levels and they are automatically set by the microphone - much louder than needed. The shock mount is a bit of a headscratcher. Since this is meant to be a vlogging microphone, supposedly for people who walk and hold the camera on some kind of handle, it’s kind of weird that Sony went with a shock mount that will translate into any kind of touch, bump or scratch being picked up by the microphone.

Generates white noise
There must be an issue with the mic. I use it with Sony A7RII and the sound in the video becomes as load whistling. Other mics I tried worked. Must be a defective item.

Bad placement for the product when you research it.
Bad idea if it was not for a camera
