No, no it is not waterproof. Neither the material it is crocheted from nor the method of its construction (crochet) are waterproof. Having said this, I will add that it is a delightful sun hat. I wear mine while gardening. It is very lovely and comfortable

Q: The description says there is a removable chin strap but when I look at all the pictures I don’t see anything like that. Does it have one?

No, it doesn’t have a chin strap. It has a ribbon that is used to adjust the size and maybe if your head was really really small you’d have enough to go under your chin but I doubt it! Really, once you adjust the tightness you won’t need a chin strap. It stays on very well and is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of compliments. This is a buy it right away you won’t regret it! Yes, my head is about the same measurement, and it fits me very well. It is somewhat adjustable on the inside of the hat. I love it and wear it often. I'm planning on ordering another.
