Pizzazzerie: Entertain in Style: Tablescapes & Recipes for the Modern Hostess

Wow! So much color and so many ideas! Pizzazzeria knocked it out the park with this party/table scaping guide! I get very overwhelmed when trying to think of a memorial theme for entertaining, and the ideas in this book are endless. You can also mix and match ideas, colors, tables, etc. And the recipes! So many amazing ideas not only for hosting a party, but also for bringing a dish to another event. From holidays to occasions to just a fun gathering, she gives you tips and tricks for making a memorable day. She also provides guidance on dishes you can make ahead and other things you can do to prepare early so you can actually enjoy your event. We do less sit down events around here and more buffet style-eat at your leisure, but her plans can adapt to that as well. I can't wait to dive in and start planning. My friends will also enjoy some of the recipes i'll be trying out this weekend as they will reap the benefits, starting with the crepe cake! This book is a must to add to your entertaining resources!

This book is just okay. It's not really that great.Pros: The book has beautiful pictures of tablescapes and offers some tips. It has some nice drink ideas/recipes. There are also some interesting dessert and appetizer recipes.Cons: This book is severely lacking in recipes for every tablescape theme that is mentioned in this book. For example, the "New Year's Day Brunch" consists of: 1 tartlette, 1 coffee cake, and 1 mimosa. Sorry, but if I were to actually have a New Year's Day Brunch, I would NEVER dream of only serving my guests a tartlette, a coffee cake, and just one drink. My guests would be left starving. This lack of recipes for all of the themed tablescapes is throughout the book. So, you really cannot depend on this book for actual menus for all of the themed tablescapes. I also wasn't so happy with The "Derby Party" because in the lovely photo of this tablescape these cute cupcakes are shown with a red rose topping - however there was NO RECIPE SHOWING THIS CUPCAKE OR HOW TO CREATE THE CUTE RED ROSE. I am just wondering WHY food items are being shown in this book WITHOUT PROVIDING AN ACTUAL RECIPE.Conclusion: You either need to have in your mind what you want to serve (which can include some of the recipes shown in the book along with more of your own recipes so that your guests aren't left starving) and/or get another entertaining cookbook that has realistic menu ideas with recipes. The tablescapes are nice, but be prepared to spend money trying to recreate them. For example, you would need themed tablecloths, coordinating dinnerware, and accessories for your table. In the end, I am keeping this book for the tablescapes and for some of the drink ideas and recipes. And, by the way if you are thinking about buying this book, be a bit suspicious of all of the 5 star reviews. They were probably written by the authors friends and family.

Bright, colorful pictures with some fresh ideas.

Absolute perfection! This is an incredibly stunning book. The photos are exquisite and the tablescapes, recipes, tips and ideas are superb. It is even more fabulous in person than it appears in the photos here which seems impossible- it is a real feast for the eyes. It is so comprehensive and is truly a wonderful resource for any hostess or host, for any sized gathering. Courtney is so knowledgeable and creative, paying impeccable attention to details. I am amazed at the variety of themes she highlights in the book and I love that there is also a section with amazing tips for additional themes- she really has thought of everything! Her insight and expertise is evident on every single page. I can't imagine anyone who would not benefit from and thoroughly enjoy this carefully and beautifully crafted book. What a pleasure to behold! Thank you, Courtney, for this most lovely book.

My copy of Pizzazzerie Entertain in Style is in my living room for my friends to enjoy. Its visual design grabs immdiate attention. All have been hooked upon seeing the clever thematic table decorations and the doable recipes even I, a non-confident cook, could do. One friend clapped with joy upon seeing the "Book Club Gathering" idea, and I quickly gave her my extra copy. The "Derby Party" with a horse figurine, surely representing Secretariat, standing in a grassy setting in which a silver urn of roses is centered made me want run around a nearby courtyard as if I were at Churchhill Downs wearing a fancy hat. Courtney Whitmore, her mom Phronsie Dial, and the photographer Evin Krehbiel have put their creative hearts and minds into a unique book of wonder and delight. Nancy Brown Richmond, VA

This book is completely gorgeous and fun from start to finish. Courtney's style and taste is impeccable and each page and design is full of amazing and attainable ideas for entertaining. I'm a wedding planner and I can't wait to share some of these gorgeous photos with clients for design inspiration for their big day. I love all the colors and patterns she uses and the appearance by her precocious daughter is icing on the cake! If you like entertaining or tablescape design this book is a must have for your collection!

Uh oh, the husband isn’t going to like all the super fun party goodies I’m going to purchase after this book!! So darling, so southern and so perfect for any hostess that loves to throw a heck of a party!

The detail in this book is wonderful. Courtney obviously spent every moment she could filling this with her immense amount of knowledge of party planning and recipes down to some of the most delicious cocktails I can imagine. Evin’s photos are so detailed and bring out the beauty of the party scapes that she has so delicately brought to life. Most definitely a need for any one who loves a party, big or small, or simply loves entertaining!
