Traditional Glass Fermenting Jar, 2500ml / 1/2 Gallon with Airlock Lid

This is a handmade glass version of an ancient, elegant design, a beautiful, practical fermenter which, since the veggies & the process can be watched live, is actually quite a conversation piece. While I haven't had it in service for many, many batches yet, its performance has been foolproof thus far. I find the size fairly reasonable, a bit on the large size for me (a half-gallon of pickled anything lasts me well over a month, and, well, I'd like to turn out batches every couple of weeks, just for fun & variety). On the other hand, if you're careful, keep it closed & don't let the water seal evaporate, this design appears quite resistant to mold (none so far, zero), even if the jar isn't packed full, even without weights. Some folks seem skittish about the glass; it's not thick, but a sphere is a strong shape- don't drop it, don't lift it by the moat, it's fine. I've supported the bottom & swirled it vigorously several times while full, no problem.

I wonder why some say it is not good !! I have received the jar today and it was amazing me. it is not that thin glass, it is very beautiful and quality is excellent. I just orderd again 3 of them now. It is so easy to use and clean , Did not need to have an extra part as air lock. Really I LOVE it.

The jar is thin glass so must be careful. Chopsticks help to get items in and out.

After all these years thinking about making my own pickled cabbage, I got this jar. It came well packed without problem. There was a previous review saying it was very thin and can break easily. I found it well make and not thin (it can break like any glass jar if you are not careful though). Preparing my first pickle cabbage now and after one week, I can see air bubbles coming up and thru the capped rim water. The colors of vegies stay without weird changes. Hope they come out perfectly. On the other hand, it might take a few try to make it perfect. It is nice to be able to see the process on going thru the clear glass though, very encouraging.

The jar arrived quickly and was very well packaged. The jar is beautiful, and the glass is very clear and not too thin or fragile. Well worth the money, and I will definitely be purchasing a few more in different sizes.Thanks! 😊

Very traditional Chinese pickle jar, I could not find it anywhere else in store, the price is high but consider it is unique and very fragile to ship, I accepted. Works pretty well for me

This jar is solidly built with only one problem. The opening of the jar is too small and one can reach inside to clean it. I hope the manufacture can improve and make the opening wider.

The rim is broken and there’s bubble inside the lid. You can buy this kind of jar at 1/3 of the price from China but hey this is America. Not 100% satisfied, but still thrilled because as Sichuanese this is kind of a necessity for my kitchen.
