Weller T0051403599 Antistatic ESD Premium Work Station Soldering Mat, 900 x 600 mm Grey Soldering Mat

The mat is good value but I had to replace the wrist strap with a 3rd party one as it was not conducting. The cords are always 1Megohm, so the resistance from the body to the mat (e.g. stud on opposite corner) should not be more than a few Meg maximum. After replacing it with a better wrist strap this was the case. The one provided was about 100 Meg which is not going to drain the static charge from the body. So I would say a good buy but make sure you get your multimeter out to test. You will also need another wire to connect the opposite corner to a grounded point, if your table is not grounded and metal.

Decent quality overall. Hard wearing material but be prepared to smell it on the room for few days after opening.

This is something I probably should have got myself as long time ago but better late than never I guess lol. I do a lot of electronic projects so I'm always soldering away. I usually usually just solder on my desk but stuff slips around and any wayward solder drips usually means a permanent mark on my desk. This mat is ideal for me, the large size is great as it gives me a large working area so I can have all my components and boards within reach and offers plenty of room to hold my soldering station. The built in ESD strap also offers piece of mind when I'm working on particularly sensitive boards though I don't use it as much as I probably should.

I’ve repaired equipment for years now and do a lot of soldering, so when this can up for review I had to give it a go. First off I was surprised by the size of it, I didn’t take in the dimensions when I requested it so that was a pleasant surprise. It fits my bench perfectly and I love that my soldering bench is well protected now. This is really for professionals or those that are doing soldering day in day out. It has anti static points on the mat that you can add a wrist strap to so that you don’t ruin the electronics that you are working on. The surface is heat resistant and cleans up well after I had dropped some oil on it.Overall I’ve never had a mat like it, and if you are after a large quality mat from a reputable company, then I can recommend this.

It's a great all-round work mat, not just for soldering!It's a high quality material, very versatile, very heat resistant

At 3' x 2' or 900mm x 600mm this is great for a table or bench top. The 2mm thick mat rolls up easily for stowage or just leave it out. It has a top blue layer that is like a pvc mat - it is a dissapative layer of static electricity and the black lower is a conductive rubber mat. The design concept is to make this high impedance so the static safely is conducted away from you and the electronics slowly. The mat has two studs (10mm) along one side so that you can use it left handed or right handed. Personally i've added two more studs so all four corners have tge studs which was easy to do. The blue layer is heat and oil resistant and easy to clean. You can solder on it without issue. I absolutely rely on these for very highly expensive electronics for the last 20 years and have had zero problems or ESD damage with these products. The cord is mostly coiled making it an ideal wrist attachment. The wrist bracelet is adjustable and contains silver thin wires to ensure good contact with your skin. Buy an earthing ESD plug and a straight cord to attach this to protective earth. Highly recommended, Andrew

I got this mat for my husband, he was looking for a product which he could place on his workbench as he uses a soldering gun fairly frequently in his hobby of collecting and trying to repair vintage electrical items.When this mat came up I got it but did not realise how big it is, the size is 900mm by 600mm, which is over 35inches long, which is nearly 3 ft and 600mm wide, which is over 23inches or just under 2 ft, luckily for us the workbench my husband has is big enough to lay this on, but you should measure the surface you will place this mat on before ordering.This mat is extremely well made, hence the high price, it is resistant to heat damage and has an antistatic wrist band and coil, my husband told me that this is useful as it allows any build-up of static in electrical to go to ground, hence why you connect that coil to the metal stud which is located on the mat and then wrap it around your wrist, to prevent you from getting a shock, so a very useful safety feature.So this mat has other features such as being non-reflective and it won't stain with oil etc, in other words, this is a super mat, is the price acceptable for what you are getting? my husband said that it would have been nice for it to have built-in boxes, so you can put bits in, as the mat is flat and there are no built-in recesses, this is a good point and one which the makers may want to consider, I am a bit sceptical of the high price, I think it is a bit expensive, as I have now seen cheaper ones, but they may not be of the same quality, so I am going to give this four stars.
