As is often the case with Indian language dictionaries, it's primarily made for Tamil speakers learning English and not really useful for English speakers learning Tamil. There's no introductory pronunciation guide for Tamil, only for English, and there are no phonetic transcriptions for any of the Tamil words, only for the English words.I guess it would be okay for some users, but as for someone trying to learn some Tamil this is going to be rather difficult to use. I'm used to Collins dictionaries making dictionaries that are useful for both learners and I've never had a problem using it before, so I assumed it would be better than Oxford dictionaries that only make Indian language dictionaries for people learning English, but I guess not.Otherwise this dictionary looks like it's just as good as other Collins dictionaries. Tamil speakers who are learning English will love this resource. The fewer amount of English speakers learning Tamil might want to look around a bit more or get very familiar with the Tamil writing system beforehand.

I cannot say for certain if this is a good or bad book for those that can read Tamil script. I was expecting romanized Tamil words so that I could attempt to translate Tamil words back and forth as an English speaker. Completely useless unless you are looking for a Tamil script translation.
