Unstable
Bought this to take overhead videos of cooking and had high hopes. When I got it I mounted my brand new Panasonic S5ii with the 50mm prime lens. It seemed to work fine but come to shoot day the arm did not want to stay up. Not wanting to risk my new camera I took it off and tried it with my iPhone to test if it was the weight of the camera. BUT it was the same with the phone. I’m out of the return window and I just took the lost.

Ok - but ball head unreliable
The media could not be loaded. While assembling the product I screwed the ball head onto the pole. I wanted to secure the ball head angle and turned the knob one half turn to secure the ball head. This resulted in the ball head snapping in half. I read reviews citing a similar experience prior to ordering and decided to give it a shot based on price point. I tend to think I’m a little more careful than the average person, but ultimately had the same experience. Looking at the broken pieces it clearly is a manufacturing flaw in the materials cast. The rest of the unit looks like it will function as intended. I already have several other ball head mounts I can use. If you truly require a ball head mount I would recommend picking up one from a reputable brand. My only remaining concern is the center mounting part where it will attach to a tripod. It appears made out of the same materials as the ball head. I’ll update after I actually have an opportunity to use it.

Helpful For Overhead Photos of Items
The KapSnug 22-37 Inch Aluminum Tripod Extension Arm Overhead Camera Mount is a helpful item to have for taking photos of items to help avoid shadows. The overhead camera mount arrived with it's one case and the necessary parts, and a one page user guide.Trying to follow along with the assembly diagram I did find not so easy. For example, the diagram only shows parts with two knobs, but there actually are 3 parts that have a knob.Assembly takes a bit of trial and error and comparing to the product photos on Amazon. Even with that, I couldn't get things to match up exactly as the product photo on Amazon has the KapSnug label upright, but I couldn't get the exact looking match. But did get the assembly good enough. The bars of the overhead camera mount is made of aluminum and feels fairly sturdy. I don't expect it to bend or warp while hanging a camera. The parts with the knobs are made mostly of plastic. The length of the camera mount measures about 26 inches when not expanded and 46 inches when fully expanded.Included is a holder for a smartphone. The holder are when not expanded is 3 about 3 inches wide. When expanded is about 3.5 inches wide. I have a wider phone and the holder gripped onto the phone nice and tight.I wish there was a quick release for the ball head and the camera. Instead, screwing on is required. This can be a bit nervous if you are using a heavy, expensive camera.I've included a picture with a bridge camera attached to the camera mount on a tripod. For the sand bag to hold a counter weight, I used a couple cans of canned goods. For some reason, I thought the camera mount had a clamp to mount to a desk instead of needed a tripod. It does require a tripod. Here is what I think are pros and cons of the overhead camera mount:Pros:- aluminum bars feel sturdy- extension bar extends to different lengths- hand cell phone mount that also extends- counter weight bagCons:- instructions and diagram to assemble could be more clear- no quick release where camera mountsIn summary, if you take a lot of pictures that need an overhead shot, I think this overhead camera mount could come in handy. If you are using a heavy, expensive camera, I'm not sure if this mount is sturdy enough. But if you are using with a smaller camera or smart phone, this mount can work out fine.I give The KapSnug 22-37 Inch Aluminum Tripod Extension Arm Overhead Camera Mount 4 stars.
